திருமூலர் அருளிய திருமந்திரம்
11. அட்டமா சித்தி

சிவபெருமானைத் தேடி எட்டுத் திசைகளிலும் பணிந்து,

Seeking Shiva and bowing to him in all eight directions,

அவனே பரம்பொருள் என்று அறிந்ததால் தைரியமுடன் எட்டுத் திசைகளிலும் சிவத்தை வணங்க,

and knowing him as the supreme reality, worshipping Shiva boldly in all eight directions,

அதனால் உள்ளம் குளிர்ந்த சிவபெருமான் எட்டு சித்திகளையும்,

thereby Shiva, whose heart is made cool, grants all eight siddhis,

தன் அருளால் அவருக்குள் நிலைபெறச் செய்வார்.

and causes them to stand fixed within that person by his own grace.

தேவர்கள் முதலான அனைத்து உயிர்களின் தன்மையையும் அறிந்துகொள்கின்ற பண்பாளனாகிய இறைவனின் திருவடியை,

At the feet of the Lord, who as a being of true nature knows the character of all lives beginning with the gods,

தூய எண்ணத்துடன் சரண் அடைந்து, தூய்மையான பரவெளியைக் கண்டேன்.

I took refuge with pure thought, and beheld the pure, vast expanse.

ஆதலால் இறைவன் தனது பேரருளால் அரிதான எட்டுவித சித்திகளையும் எனக்கு வழங்கினான்.

And so the Lord, by his great grace, granted me all the rare eight siddhis.

எனது பிறப்பையும் அறுத்து அருளினான்.

And by his grace he cut off my birth as well.

குருவின் அருளினால் அவர் காட்டிய வழியிலேயே,

By the guru's grace, in the very path he has shown,

தனக்குள்ளேயே அலையும் எண்ணங்களையும் வெளியே அலையும் எண்ணங்களையும் பார்த்து,

watching over the thoughts that wander within and the thoughts that wander outward,

அவற்றைக் கடினத்துடன் ஒன்றாகச் சேர்த்து ஒருமுகப்படுத்தி வைத்தால்,

and if one strives to bring them together and unify them,

சிவகதியின் பேறாகிய எட்டுவித சித்திகளில் எட்டாவது சித்தியான வசித்துவம் கைவரப் பெறும்.

then the eighth of the eight siddhis that are the boon of the path to Shiva, vasitvam, comes into one's hand.

ஆகாயம், நிலம், நீர், காற்று, நெருப்பு ஆகிய பஞ்சபூதங்களிலும், அறுபத்து நான்கு கலைகளிலும், மூன்று காலங்களிலும், மாயையிலும்,

In the five elements, ether, earth, water, air and fire, in the sixty-four kalas, in the three times, and in maya,

சேராமல் விலகி ஒன்றுபட்டிருக்கும் தொடக்கமில்லாத அறிவு ஒன்று உண்டு.

there is one beginningless awareness that stands apart, joined to none of these.

அந்த அறிவை ஆத்மாவிற்கும் பரமாத்மாவிற்கும் இடையேயுள்ள தொடர்பாக உண்மையென அறிந்து அதிலேயே கலந்திருந்தால்,

If one knows that awareness truly as the bond between the self and the Supreme Self, and remains merged in it,

என்றும் அழியாத உடலை அடையலாம்.

one can attain a body that never perishes.

விருப்பத்தோடு மனத்தை ஒருமுகப்படுத்திச் செய்யும் செயல்கள் கன்ம யோகமாகும்; அது இருபதாயிரத்து எண்ணூறு பிரிவுகளைக் கொண்டது.

Deeds done with will and a mind made single-pointed are karma yoga, and it has twenty thousand eight hundred divisions.

அந்தக் கன்ம யோகம் உடம்பினால் செய்யப்படும் அருமையான உழைப்பினால் நிறைவு பெறும்.

That karma yoga reaches fullness through the rare labour done by the body.

உடலின் உழைப்பாலேயே இது நிறைவு பெறுகின்றது.

It is by the body's own labour that this reaches fullness.

அவ்வாறு நிறைவு பெறுவதால் பெறக்கூடிய சித்திகள் எட்டுவித சித்திகளாகும்.

And the siddhis that come from that fullness are the eight siddhis.

நிலைபெற்றிருக்கும் ஒரு நாடி வழியாகப் பன்னிரண்டு அளவு மூச்சுக்காற்று உள்ளிழுக்கப்படும்.

Twelve measures of breath are drawn in through one abiding channel.

அதிலிருந்து நான்கு அளவு மற்றொரு நாடி வழியாக வெளியேறிட, மீதமுள்ள எட்டு அளவு உள்ளேயே தங்கும்.

Of that, four measures pass out through another channel, while the remaining eight measures stay held within.

இதைப் பன்னிரண்டு ஆண்டுகள் உலகப் பற்றை விட்டுக் கவனித்து வந்தால்,

If one watches this for twelve years, giving up worldly attachment,

உறுதியாகப் பன்னிரண்டு சித்திகளும் கிடைக்கும்.

the twelve siddhis will surely be gained.

எண்ணிலடங்காத நோய்கள் போன்ற பிறவிகளில் நம்மைச் சூழ்ந்து பற்றிக்கொண்டிருக்கும் உறவுகளாலும்,

Not through the countless kin who surround and cling to us across births as though themselves numberless afflictions,

நிலைத்திருக்கும் கலை உணர்வுகளாலும், அவற்றைத் தரும் கல்விகளாலும், அந்தக் கல்விகளால் வரும் தெளிவு மற்றும் நுட்பமான உணர்வுகளாலும்,

not through abiding artistic feeling, the learning that gives it, or the clarity and subtle awareness that such learning brings,

அவற்றால் அடையும் பெருமைகளாலும் எட்டுவித சித்திகளும் கிடைப்பதில்லை.

nor through the honours gained from that awareness, do the eight siddhis come.

பன்னிரண்டு ஆண்டுகள் ஆத்மகுரு கூறிய வழியைக் கேட்டு அதன்படி பொறுமையுடன் நடந்துவந்தால் எட்டுவித சித்திகளும் கிடைக்கும்.

If, for twelve years, one listens to the way spoken by the soul's guru and walks it with patience, the eight siddhis will be gained.

பாடல்கள் #644, #645, #646-ல் கூறப்பட்ட முறைகளுள் ஏதேனும் ஒன்றைத் தொடர்ந்து கடைப்பிடிப்பவர்களுக்கு,

For those who go on practicing any of the ways spoken of in verses 644, 645 and 646,

ஏழாம் ஆண்டில் ஒரு மேலான நிலை கைகூடும்.

a further, higher state comes to hand in the seventh year.

எட்டாம் ஆண்டில் இன்னொரு மேலான நிலை கைகூடும்.

Another, higher state comes to hand in the eighth year.

ஒன்பதாம் ஆண்டில் மேலும் ஒரு நிலை கைகூடும் என்று இப்பாடல் தொடர்ந்து கூறுகின்றது.

And yet another state comes to hand in the ninth year, this verse continues to say.

பாடல்கள் #644, #645, #646-ல் உள்ள முறைகளில் ஏதேனும் ஒன்றைக் கடைப்பிடித்து வந்தால் பத்தாம் ஆண்டில் தியானத்திலிருக்கும் சிவ நிலையை அடையலாம்.

For one who continues to practice any of the ways given in verses 644, 645 and 646, in the tenth year the state of being Shiva while in meditation can be attained.

பதினோராம் ஆண்டில் எட்டுவித சித்திகளும் கிடைக்கும்.

In the eleventh year the eight siddhis are gained.

பன்னிரண்டாம் ஆண்டில் மேலிருக்கும் ஏழு உலகங்களுக்கும் கீழிருக்கும் ஏழு உலகங்களுக்கும் சென்று,

In the twelfth year one can go to the seven worlds above and the seven worlds below,

எங்கும் இடம் விடாமல் பரந்திருக்கும் நிலையை அடையலாம்.

and attain the state of pervading everywhere without leaving any place untouched.

தானே அணுவளவாக மாறுதலும், உலகளவு பெருமையாதலும்,

Becoming as small as an atom, and becoming as great as the world,

கனமிக்கதாதலும், எல்லாவற்றிலும் அடங்கிய ஆகாயம் போல் இலேசாதலும்,

becoming heavy, and becoming light as the ether that pervades all things,

அழியாத உடலை அடைதலும், தான் நினைத்ததை அப்படியே ஆக்கிக்கொள்ளும் தன்மையும்,

attaining an imperishable body, and having the power to become at will whatever one wishes,

குறையாத உண்மை ஆற்றலும், எங்கும் பரவி நிற்றலும் ஆகிய இவை எட்டும் அட்டமா சித்திகள் ஆகும்.

possessing an unfailing power of truth, and standing pervading everywhere: these eight are the eight great siddhis.

சிவயோகியாக ஆகி அணு அளவாக மாறினாலும், பல உயிர்களைத் தாங்கும் தன்மையைப் பெறுவார்.

Becoming a Shiva yogi, even while changing to the measure of an atom, one gains the power to bear many lives within oneself.

அவ்வுயிர்களைத் தம்முள் கலந்துகொண்ட போதும், தமக்குள் எந்த மாற்றமும் இல்லை.

Though those lives are merged within him, there is no change at all within himself.

தமக்குள் இருக்கும் அவ்வுயிர்கள் ஓம் எனும் நாதமாக எழுகின்றன.

The lives that dwell within him rise as the sound Om.

அவை உச்சிக்குச் சென்று முக்தி பெறுகின்றன.

They go to the crown and attain liberation there.

வானம் முதல் பூமி வரையுள்ள அனைத்திலும் சிவனையே கண்டு சிந்தித்து ஆராய்ந்து அறிந்துகொள்பவர்களுக்கு,

For those who see and reflect on Shiva alone in everything from the sky to the earth, and come to know him through inquiry,

முந்நூற்று அறுபது நாட்கள் கழிந்த பின்,

after three hundred and sixty days have passed,

தொப்புளுக்கு அருகில் ஒளி எழும்புகின்றது.

a light rises near the navel.

அந்த ஒளி மேலெழுந்து செல்லும்.

And that light ascends upward.

பார்த்தல், கேட்டல், சுவைத்தல், நுகர்தல், உணர்தல் ஆகிய ஐம்புலன்களில் செல்லும் எண்ணங்கள் எல்லாம் சிவமாய் உணரப்படும்.

Thoughts, wherever they go among the five senses, sight, hearing, taste, smell and touch, come to be felt as Shiva.

முக்தி நிலையை அறிந்து அதிலேயே லயித்திருப்பவர்கள் சிவமுக்தர்கள் ஆவார்கள்.

Those who know the state of liberation and remain dissolved in it become Shiva-muktas.

ஐந்து புலன்களின் உணர்வுடன் தொடர்பற்றவர்கள் ஆகையால் தூய நிலையை அடைவார்கள்.

Because they have no connection with the awareness of the five senses, they attain the pure state.

அவர்களின் எண்ணம் சிவனோடு ஒன்றுபட்டு ஆனந்த நிலையில் நடனம் ஆடும்.

Their thought, united with Shiva, dances in the state of bliss.

உடலில் உள்ள ஒன்பது வாயுக்களும் சரிசமமாக இருக்க வேண்டும்.

The nine vital breaths within the body must remain equal.

இந்த ஒன்பதிற்கும் மேலாக இருப்பது தனஞ்செயன் என்னும் வாயு.

Beyond these nine is the breath called Dhananjaya.

உடலில் உள்ள ஒன்பது நாடிகளும் மிகுதியும் குறைவும் இல்லாமல் சரிசமமாக இருந்தால்,

When the nine channels within the body remain equal, neither in excess nor in deficiency,

தனஞ்செயன் வாயு உடலோடும் உயிரோடும் ஒன்றுபட்டுப் பிரியாமல் இருக்கும்.

the breath Dhananjaya stays united with the body and the life, and does not part from them.

தனஞ்செயன் என்னும் வாயு உடலில் உள்ள ஒன்பது வாயுக்களோடும் கலந்திருக்கும்.

The breath called Dhananjaya mingles with the nine vital breaths within the body.

உடலில் உள்ள இருநூற்று இருபத்து நான்கு நரம்புகள் வழியாகவும் சென்றுகொண்டே இருக்கும்.

It keeps moving through the two hundred and twenty four nerves of the body.

அவ்வாறு செல்லாமல் இருந்தால்,

If it did not move so,

உடல் வீங்கி வெடித்துவிடும்.

the body would swell and burst.

வயிற்றுக் கட்டி அல்லது வீக்கம், சிரங்கு, குட்டம்,

Swelling of the belly, boils, and skin disease,

உறுப்புகள் வீக்கம், பலவகைச் சோகைகள்,

swelling of the limbs, and various kinds of anemia,

வாதம், கூனுதல், முடமாதல்,

palsy, a bent back, and lameness,

கண் நோய்கள் ஆகிய இவ்வியாதிகள் தனஞ்செயன் என்னும் வாயு குறைவதால் உருவாகும்.

and eye disease: these afflictions arise when the breath called Dhananjaya decreases.

கண்ணுக்கு வியாதி தரும் காரணம் தனஞ்செயன் அல்ல.

The cause of eye ailments is not Dhananjaya.

கண்ணில் பூ விழுதலும், காசமும் அவனால் வருவதில்லை.

Neither the whitening of the pupil nor the discharge of pus in the eye comes from him.

கண்ணிலிருந்து ஒளியை மூளைக்குக் கொண்டு செல்லும் கூர்மன் என்னும் வாயு குறைவதாலேயே இவ்விரு வியாதிகளும் வருகின்றன.

Both these ailments arise only from the decrease of the breath called Kurman, which carries light from the eye to the brain.

அந்த வாயுவின் குறைபாட்டால் பார்வையில் ஒளியும் இல்லாமல் போகும்.

And by the decrease of that same breath, sight itself loses its light.

உள்ளே எழும் ஒளியை அகக் கண்ணால் கண்டு,

Those who behold with the inner eye the light that rises within,

அந்த ஒளி எழுப்பும் ஓசையை இதயத் துடிப்பால் உணர்ந்திருப்பவர்களை,

and feel through the beating of the heart the sound that light gives off,

தேவர்களுள் முதல்வர்களான உருத்திரன், திருமால், பிரம்மன் ஆகிய மூவரும்,

the three foremost among the gods, Rudra, Vishnu and Brahma,

இடைவிடாது தமக்குள் உணர்ந்திருப்பார்கள்.

know them within themselves without ceasing.

ஒன்பது வாசல்களைக் கொண்ட இந்த உடலில்,

Within this body, which has nine doors,

ஒன்பது நாடிகளும் அமைந்துள்ளன.

there also lie nine channels.

அந்த ஒன்பது நாடிகளையும் ஒருமுகப்படுத்தித் தவம் செய்யவல்லவர்களுக்கு,

For those who are able to unify all nine channels and perform tapas,

அவர்களின் உடலுக்கு என்றும் அழிவில்லை.

the body knows no perishing, ever.

எழுப்பப்பட்ட ஆற்றல் உள்ளே செல்ல,

When the power that has been roused moves within,

மூச்சுக்காற்றால் அதைத் தாங்க,

borne up by the breath,

ஏழு உலகங்களிலும் வியாபித்திருக்கும் ஆற்றலை அடையலாம்.

one can attain the power that pervades and sustains all seven worlds.

இம்முறையைச் சிவனுடைய அருள்வழியில் செல்பவர்களுக்கு யாம் கூறினோம்.

This is the way we have spoken to those who walk the path of Shiva's grace.

நடுவே இருக்கும் நாடியை நல்ல வழியாகத் திறக்கச் செய்தால்,

If the central channel is opened by the right way,

வலையில் சிக்கிய மானைத் தேடி ஓடிவரும் அதன் துணை மானைப் போல,

then, like a deer that runs seeking its mate caught in a snare,

எழுந்த ஆற்றல்,

the power that has risen,

தலை உச்சியில் உள்ள சிவத்தைத் தேடி அடையும்.

seeks and reaches Shiva at the crown of the head.

விரைந்து அங்கே ஓடிச் சென்று, ஒப்பற்ற ஒரு பொருளைத் தரிசித்தவர்கள்,

Those who have run there and beheld the one, matchless being,

அங்குள்ள நாடிக்குள் ஒலிக்கும் நாதத்தை எழுப்புவார்கள்.

raise a resonant sound within the channel there.

அமுதம் ஊறும் அந்த இடத்தைத் தேடிச் சென்று, அங்கு ஊறும் தேனை முகந்து பருகுவார்கள்.

Having sought and gone there, they draw up and drink the honey that flows there,

அப்படிப் பருகியவர்கள், தமக்குள்ளே நிற்கும் பகைகளைக் கட்டி அடக்கிவிடுவார்கள்.

and so bind the enemies that stand within.

தாமரைத் தண்டுக்குள் கட்டுண்டு கிடக்கும் ஒன்பது சக்திகளும்,

The nine, bound within the stalk of the lotus,

அளவுபட்ட அந்தக் கன்னியர், அங்கே இருக்கும் பெருந்தேவியோடு சேர்ந்துகொள்கிறார்கள்.

these measured maidens unite with the great Lady there.

தளங்களினூடே தடையின்றி நிலைத்துச் சென்று,

Passing steadily through the centres,

ஒரே புள்ளியாய் நிலைபெற்று, பூரணமான சக்தியாகிவிடுகிறார்கள்.

they settle as a single point and become the whole, complete power.

பூரண சக்தியானது, மூன்று ஏழாகிய இருபத்தொரு அறைகளாகப் பரவி,

The whole power, across thrice-seven chambers,

அழகுற அணிசெய்த தன் கன்னியராக, மொத்தம் நூற்றைந்தாகப் பிரிகின்றது.

as its beautifully adorned maidens, divides into a hundred and five in all,

நாராயணன், நான்முகன் ஆகியோர் தலைமையிலான ஐவருக்கும்,

and for the five headed by Narayana and the four-faced one,

அதுவே காரணமாகி, அவர்களுள் கலந்து விரிந்து நிற்கின்றது.

becomes their very cause, mingling and spreading through them.

விரிந்தும் குவிந்தும் முழுமை அடைந்த இந்தச் சக்தி,

This maiden, having spread out and gathered in and come to fullness,

மறைந்தவாறே உள்ளே எழுந்து, அங்கே மறைந்தேயிருக்கின்றது.

rises hidden within and remains there hidden,

நிலம் முதலான பூதங்களோடு சேர்ந்து பரந்தும் குவிந்தும்,

spreading and gathering together with the elements, earth foremost among them,

இரைந்து எழும் உயிர்க்காற்று நிற்கும் இடத்திலேயே அடங்கி நிற்கின்றது.

and settles within the place of the rushing, rising vital airs.

இடகலை, பிங்கலை என்று சொல்லப்படும் இரண்டு வழிகளும்,

The two called idakalai and pingalai,

அவற்றுள் அடைபட்டு நிற்கும் மூச்சுக் காற்றும் மாறி நிற்கும்.

the breath confined within them changes and stands transformed.

தண்ணிய கடல் போன்றதனுள்ளே, தடைகள் ஆறும் எழுகின்றன.

The six obstacles arise, within what is like a cool sea,

நெருங்கி வளரும் மின்னற் கொடி போன்ற ஒன்றினுள்ளே அவை ஒடுங்குகின்றன.

and settle within a growing, thickening streak of lightning.

ஒடுங்கி, ஒருமைப்பட்டு, உணர்வுடன் அங்கே இருந்தால்,

If one settles, becomes one, and remains there in realization,

மூச்சுக் காற்றும் அதனுள் அடங்கி அடங்கியே நிற்கும்.

the breath too settles and remains settled within it.

எல்லாம் அப்படி அடங்க, நிலைபெற்று நிற்கும் அந்த உயிருக்குள்ளே,

Folding in and remaining folded, within that abiding life,

நடனத்தைத் தன்னதாகக் கொண்ட கூத்தனே தேடி வருகின்றான்.

the one who holds the dance himself comes seeking it out.

நாடியின் உள்ளே, ஒலிக்கும் நாதத்துடன்,

Within the channel, together with a resonant sound,

உயிரைத் தேடி உடன் சென்று, அந்தத் திருவருளைக் கைக்கொண்டு,

having sought and gone with it, holding that sacred gift,

உள்ளே நிற்கும் பகைகளை அவனே கட்டி அடக்கிவிடுகிறான்.

he binds the enemies that stand within,

அந்த இருப்பிடத்தில், ஒருபோதும் மங்காத ஒற்றை மணிவிளக்காய் அவன் ஆகிவிடுகிறான்.

and becomes, in that dwelling, a single jewelled lamp that never dims.

அணிமா முதலான சித்திகளைச் சொல்லப் புகுந்தால்,

If one speaks of the siddhis beginning with animā,

அணுவைப் போன்ற சிறுமைக்கும் மலையைப் போன்ற பெருமைக்கும் இடையே ஒப்புமை உண்டு.

there is an equality between the smallness of an atom and the greatness of a mountain,

தடையின்றி விரைந்து வேறோர் உடலினுள் புகுதல்,

a swift, unhindered entry into another body,

அணு அளவாய் எங்கும் தானே ஆகி நிற்றல்; இவை எட்டு.

and being present everywhere, to an atom's measure, as oneself; these are the eight.

எட்டு வகையான சித்திகளும், எட்டு உறுப்புகளைக் கொண்ட யோகத்தால்,

The eight siddhis, through the eightfold yoga,

எளிதில் அடங்காத மூச்சுக் காற்றை அடக்கினால் கிடைக்கும்.

are obtained if the hard-to-master breath is mastered.

எதனோடும் ஒட்டாத நடு நாடி, அடிப்பகுதியிலிருந்து எழும் அக்கினியை மேலே ஏற்றிச் செல்லும்.

The untouched central channel carries the fire that rises from the base

மேலே சென்று விடுபட்ட அங்கே, அதன் அமுதத்தைப் பருகலாம்.

to where, released above, its nectar may be drunk.

எட்டுச் சித்திகள் மட்டுமல்ல, அவற்றோடு சேர்ந்த எட்டு உறுப்பு யோகத்தால்,

Not the eight siddhis alone, but through the eightfold yoga that joins them,

எல்லா வகையான அறிவும் தெளிவாகப் புலப்படும்.

every kind of understanding becomes clear.

எட்டுச் சித்திகளும் திரிபுரையால் அருளப்பட்டு,

The eight siddhis themselves, granted by Tripurai,

அந்தச் சக்தியின் அருளாலேயே நமக்குள் உண்டாகும்.

come into being through that power's grace.

இந்த எட்டுச் சித்திகளோடு, அழகிய பரம்பொருளையும் கைகூடப் பெற்றவர்,

One who, along with these eight, has attained union with the beautiful supreme,

பரலோகத்தோடு ஒன்றியவர் ஆதலால், சித்தர் ஆகிறார்.

becomes a siddhar, for they have become one with the highest world.

தாம் இருக்கும் இடத்திலிருந்தே, தம் உள்ளத்திலேயே பரம்பொருளின் காட்சி அவர்களுக்குக் கிட்டும்.

From wherever they dwell, the vision of the supreme is theirs within,

எட்டுச் சித்திகளோடு சேர்ந்த மற்ற சித்திகளும், அந்த இடத்தைத் தேடித் தாமே வந்து சேரும்.

and the further siddhis that go with the eight come of their own accord to that place.

மெல்ல மேலேறும் ஞாயிற்றையும் திங்களையும் மாற்றி,

Turning aside the sun and moon that mount slowly,

அடிப்பகுதியில் கசடு இன்றி இருக்க வல்லவர்களுக்கு,

those able to remain free of impurity at the base,

தாம் விரும்பும் நல்ல உலகங்கள் தவறாமல் சார்பாகும்.

come without fail to belong to the good worlds they desire,

ஒவ்வோர் உலகத்திற்கும் அவ்வாறு பொருந்தி நிற்கும் தன்மையே அணிமா முதலான சித்திகள் ஆகும்.

and that fitness for every world is animā and the siddhis with it.

அணிமாவை அடைந்து முடித்தபின், ஓராண்டு காலம் அப்பயிற்சியைத் தழுவி விடாமல் தொடர்ந்தால்,

Having completed the gaining of it, if one continues embracing the practice for a year,

அவன் மேற்கொண்ட அணிமா நிரந்தரமாக அவனுடையதாகிவிடும்.

the animā he has taken on becomes his own for good.

அவனது உடல் அடங்கிய பஞ்சைவிட மெலியதாகும்.

His body grows lighter than even settled cotton,

அத்தனை மென்மையாக இருந்தும், அது எவராலும் வெல்ல முடியாததாய் இருக்கும்.

and though so delicate, remains there unconquerable by anyone.

ஆகி நிற்கும் அந்தத் தனி நாயகியுடனும்,

With that peerless mistress who has come to be,

எங்கும் பரவிச் செல்லும், புகலிடமாய் நிற்கும் தத்துவத்துடனும்,

the principle that pervades and passes everywhere as one's refuge,

கழிந்து செல்லும் ஆண்டுகள் முழுவதும் அந்த வழியிலிருந்து மாறாமல் நின்றால்,

if, through the passing years, one remains unmoved from that path,

அந்த ஆண்டுகள் நிறைவுறும்போது, மாபெரும் நுண்மையான இலகிமா என்னும் சித்தி கிடைக்கும்.

then at the completion of that span of years, ilakimā, the great and subtle siddhi, is attained.

இலகிமாவாகவே இருக்கும் மாபெரும் மாயனைத் தரிசித்தபின்,

Having beheld the great Mayan who is ilakimā itself,

தாமே ஒளியாகி, அங்கே ஒளியாய்த் தழைத்திருப்பார்.

one turns into light and flourishes there as light.

பாலைப் போன்ற வெண்ணிற ஒளியாகி எங்கும் பரந்து நின்று,

Becoming a milk-white light spread out everywhere,

ஒளிகளுக்கெல்லாம் மேலான ஒளியாய் உள்ள மெய்ப்பொருளைத் தரிசிப்பார்.

one beholds the true being who is the light above all lights.

மெய்ப்பொருளை உணர்த்திய அந்த மெல்லியலாளுடனும்,

With the gentle one who has declared the true being,

தமக்குள் தத்துவமாய் இருக்கும் இறைவனுடனும்,

and the principle that is God, dwelling as one's own being,

தமதாகவே கொண்டு ஒரு வருடம் கலந்திருந்தால்,

if one remains united, holding them as one's own, for a year,

மறைந்திருந்த செல்வமாகிய மகிமா என்னும் சித்தி கிடைக்கும்.

the hidden treasure that is mahimā comes to be attained.

ஆகி எழுந்த காலத்தின் ஒளியைத் தரிசித்தபின்,

Having beheld the light of time that has come to be,

கழிந்து செல்லும் காலங்கள் நமது ஆயுளை எடுத்துச் செல்வதில்லை.

the passing times cease to pass one by and take one's life with them.

மேலே நின்ற அந்தக் காலம் வெளிப்பட்டு நின்றபின்,

Once the time that stood above is made manifest,

மிஞ்சி நிற்கும் காலங்கள் நம் எண்ணப்படி நம் வழியிலேயே அமையும்.

the times that remain fall into one's own way, shaped as one wills.

தழைத்து ஓங்கும் ஞானம் அவன் வழியாலேயே தழைக்கிறது.

The wisdom that flourishes, flourishes by his way,

தழைத்து விளங்கும் உலகமும் அவன் வழியாலேயே தழைக்கிறது.

and the world that flourishes, flourishes by his way too.

அவன் வழியால் தழைத்த பொருள்கள் அனைத்தும்,

All things that have flourished by his way

அவனுடைய அருளாகவே, அவன் வசப்பட்டு நிற்கின்றன.

stand as his own grace, under his own sway.

தத்துவங்களுக்கு மேலாக நிற்கும் அந்த நாயகியுடன்,

With the mistress of the principles who stands over them,

தாம் கண்டறிந்த ஐம்பூத ஆற்றல்கள் அனைத்தையும் உணர்ந்து,

realizing all the elemental forces that have been seen,

அவற்றைக் கொண்டு, ஓராண்டு முழுவதும் அவளுடன் கூடி இருந்தால்,

if one holds and remains united with her for a full year,

அதன்பின் திறந்துகொள்வதே பிராத்தி என்னும் நல்ல சித்தியாகும்.

the very opening that follows becomes the good siddhi, prāpti.

ஆகி எழுந்த மின்னொளியைத் தரிசித்தபின்,

Having beheld the flash of light that has come to be,

கரிமா என்னும் சித்தி கிடைக்கும்; பக்குவமடையும் பூவைப் போல அனைத்தும் விரிந்து விளங்கக் காணலாம்.

the siddhi called karimā is gained, and one may see all things laid open like a ripening flower.

மேலே திரளும் காலங்கள் வெளிப்பட்டு நின்று, நமது ஆயுளை அழிப்பதில்லை.

The times that gather above stand revealed and no longer destroy one's lifespan,

அப்படிக் காலத்தை வென்றவர், மலையைப் போல எவராலும் அசைக்க முடியாதவராய் இருப்பார்.

and one who has so conquered time remains, like a mountain, unmoved by anyone.

கழிந்து போவது ஒன்றும் இல்லை, புதிதாக வருவதும் இல்லை.

There is no passing away, and no new arriving either,

இறப்பு இல்லை, ஆகவே புதுப் பிறவியாய்த் தழைப்பதும் இல்லை.

no dying, and so no flourishing into a new birth,

தாமதமும் இல்லை; தமக்குள்ளேயே இருக்கும் இனிய ஒளியே,

no delay either, for the sweet light within one's own self

அறிந்துகொள்பவர்களுக்கு எல்லாமாக இருக்கிறது.

is all there is, for those who have come to know it.

அறிந்துகொண்ட பராசக்திக்குள்ளே அமர்ந்திருந்தால்,

If one comes to rest within the supreme power once it is known,

ஐம்பூத ஆற்றல்கள் அனைத்தும் பறிந்து விலகிவிடும்.

all the elemental forces are stripped away,

ஓராண்டு முழுவதும் ஒருமுகப்பட்டு அவளுடன் கூடி இருந்தால்,

if one remains gathered and united with it for a full year,

விரிந்த பிறிதோர் உடலில் புகுவதும் கூடும்.

and entry into another, greater body becomes possible.

ஆகி நிற்கும் அந்த விளக்கின் ஒளியை யாரும் அறிவதில்லை.

The light of the lamp that has come to be, they do not know it,

மூல விளக்கின் ஒளி அவர்கள் முன்னேயே இருந்தாலும் அறிவதில்லை.

though the light of the root lamp is there before them.

உள்ளிருக்கும் அந்த விளக்கின் ஒளியைக் கண்டுகொள்பவர்களுக்கு,

For those who come to see the light of that inner lamp,

மேலான விளக்கின் ஒளியைத் தரிசிப்பதும், முக்தியும் எளிதாகும்.

the light of the lamp above becomes easy to behold, and liberation stands easy too.

என்றும் நிலைத்து நிற்கும் சதாசிவ நாயகியுடன்,

With the mistress of Sadashiva who stands ever present,

தாம் கண்டறிந்த ஐம்பூத ஆற்றல்கள் அனைத்தையும் உணர்ந்து,

realizing all the elemental forces that have been seen,

அவற்றைக் கொண்டு, ஓராண்டு முழுவதும் அவளுடன் கூடி இருந்தால்,

if one holds and remains united with her for a full year,

பழமையான அந்த ஈசனின் தத்துவமாகிய ஈசத்துவம் கிடைக்கும்.

the principle of that ancient lord, ishatvam, comes to be attained.

ஆகி நிற்கும் அந்தச் சந்திரனின் ஒளியாகவே அவன் ஆகிவிடுகிறான்.

He becomes the light of the moon that has come to be,

அந்தச் சந்திரனுடைய குளிர்ச்சியும் அவனுடையதாகிவிடும்.

and that moon's coolness too becomes his own.

அந்தச் சந்திரனின் கலைகள் அனைத்தோடும் அவன் கூடிவிட்டால்,

If he comes to unite with all the phases of that moon,

அவனே அந்தச் சந்திரனாகவே ஆகிவிடுவான்.

he himself becomes that very moon.

ஈசத்துவம் பெற்றவர், தாமே படைக்க வல்லவராகிவிடுவார்.

He himself becomes able to create,

தாமே காக்கவும் வல்லவராகிவிடுவார்.

and he himself becomes able to preserve,

அழித்தல் தொழிலுக்கும் தாமே தலைவராகிவிடுவார்.

and he himself becomes the lord of destruction too.

இவரே அவர் என்று சொல்லும்படி, தாமே அத்தன்மையை உடையவராகிவிடுவார்.

And he himself becomes one of that very nature, of whom it is said, "he is this."

கலையாகத் தழைத்து நிற்கும் அந்தக் குளிர்ந்த பேரறிவின் வழியாக,

Within the coolness that has flourished as that faculty,

உடலெங்கும் பலவாறாகப் பரவியிருக்கும் ஐம்பூதங்களையும்

the five elements that have spread in many forms

கடினமான முயற்சியால் திருப்பிக் கட்டுப்படுத்தி, ஓராண்டு அவ்வாறே வைத்திருந்தால்,

are turned back and mastered with firm effort, and if this is held for a year,

மென்மையான உண்மைப் பொருளை உணரலாம்.

the gentle, true being is beheld.

உணரப்பட்ட அந்த உண்மைப் பொருள் எது என்று வினவினால்,

If one asks what that true being which came to be actually is,

அது நற்பொருளாகிய நல்ல வசித்துவம் என்னும் சித்தியேயாகும்.

it is the good and true treasure, the siddhi vasitvam.

தமது கைப்பொருள் போலக் கருதிக் கலந்து நிற்கும் எல்லா உயிர்களுக்கும்,

To every living being, held as one's own and mingled with,

தமது உயிரின் தன்மையே ஆகிய அத்தன்மையனாகத் தாமும் ஆகிவிடுவார்.

one becomes of that same nature, the very being of one's own self.

ஒரு சித்தியைப் பெற்று சூரியனைப் போன்ற பிரகாசத்துடன் விளங்கும் யோகி,

A yogi who has attained a certain power and shines with radiance like the sun,

அனைத்திற்கும் மேலான உண்மைப் பொருளாகிய சதாசிவத்தைத் தரிசித்தபின்,

upon beholding Sadasivam, the true reality that stands above all,

உலகப் பற்றை விட்டதைப் போலவே உடலின் ஐம்புலன்களின் பற்றையும் விட்டுவிட்டால்,

if he lets go of the five senses' attachment of the body just as he let go of attachment to the world,

நன்மை தரும் சதாசிவத்தின் சக்தியைத் தரிசிக்கலாம் என்கிறது பாடல்.

he may then, the verse says, behold the beneficent power of Sadasivam.

பாடல் #689 இல் பெற்ற சக்தியுடன் இருக்கும் யோகி, நற்கொடி எனப்படும் நாயகியுடன்,

The yogi who holds the power gained at Padal 689, together with the Nayaki called the good flag,

அவளுடன் ஒன்றித்திருக்கும் நிலையை அறிந்துகொண்டால்,

if he comes to know the state of oneness with her,

அதனால் விளையும் நிலையில்,

then, in the state that comes of it,

உறுதியான காதலனாக நிலைபெறுவார் என்கிறது பாடல்.

he becomes established as her steadfast lover, the verse says.

அனைத்தையும் தன்வசப்படுத்தும் பேரருள் சக்தியாகிய சதாசிவத்தை,

Sadasivam, the great power of grace that subdues all things,

ஒளியாகத் தம் உள்ளத்தில் வைத்திருப்பவர்க்கு,

for one who holds that power within the heart as light,

அந்த ஒளியே,

that very light,

தம்மை ஆட்கொள்ளும் சதாசிவமாகிவிடும் என்கிறது பாடல்.

the verse says, becomes the Sadasivam who takes hold of and governs him.

பாடல் #691 இல் உள்ளபடி சதாசிவமாகிய ஒளியை உணர்ந்தபின்,

As at Padal 691, once the light that is Sadasivam is sensed,

ஆன்மாவின் பிறப்பிடமாகிய சதாசிவம் தமக்குள்ளேயே தழைத்து இருக்கும்.

Sadasivam, the very birthplace of the soul, stands flourishing within oneself.

உலகப் பற்றுகள் அனைத்தும் தம்மை விட்டு விலகுவதை உணர்ந்தபின்,

Once one senses all worldly attachments falling away,

தமக்குள் இருக்கும் இருள் அனைத்தையும் விலக்கும் பேரொளியைக் காணலாம் என்கிறது பாடல்.

the verse says, one may behold the great light that drives off all the darkness within.

சகஸ்ரதளத்தின் மேலே இருக்கும்,

Above the sahasrara,

பெரிய தாமரை மலர் போன்ற பேரொளியைத் தரிசிக்கும் யோகிக்கு,

for the yogi who beholds the great light, like a vast lotus flower,

தனது மூச்சுக்காற்றே,

his own breath itself

அந்த ஒளியாக விளங்குகிறது என்கிறது பாடல்.

appears, the verse says, as that very light.

மூச்சுக்காற்றோடு உயிர் கலக்கும் முறை என்னவென்றால்,

The way breath and life come to mingle, the verse says, is this:

உடம்பில் மொத்தமுள்ளதாக யோக நூல்கள் கூறும் எழுபதாயிரம் நாடிகளில் ஐந்நூறு நாடிகள் சிறப்பானவை; இவற்றில் பத்து நாடிகள் மிகவும் சிறப்பானவை (பாடல் #595 இல் உள்ளபடி),

of the seventy thousand nadis the yoga texts say exist in the body, five hundred are the finer ones, and of these ten are the most special (as at Padal 595),

அதிலும் சிறப்பானவை இடகலை, பிங்கலை, சுழுமுனை ஆகிய மூன்று நாடிகள்.

and finest of all are the three, idakalai, pingalai and sushumna.

இந்த ஐநூற்றுப் பதிமூன்று நாடிகளும் சுழுமுனை நாடியில் இருக்கும் சிவசக்தியோடு கலந்திருந்தால், மூச்சுக்காற்றோடு உயிர் கலந்திருக்கும்.

If these five hundred and thirteen nadis together stay mingled with the Siva power in the sushumna, then breath stays mingled with life.

தலைக்குள் ஆறு போல் உண்டாகும் அமுதம்,

The nectar that arises like a stream within the head,

ஆயிரத்து முந்நூற்று ஐந்து நரம்புத் தொகுதிகள் வழியாகச் செல்கின்றது.

flows through one thousand three hundred and five bundles of nerves.

அவ்வாறு செல்லும் அமுதம் அந்த நரம்புத் தொகுதிகளின் மறுபகுதியில் உள்ள சகஸ்ரதளத்தை அடைந்து,

It is that flowing nectar which reaches the sahasrara on the far side of those nerve bundles,

உயிரைப் பக்குவப்படுத்தி மேல்நிலைக்குக் கொண்டு செல்வது சிவசத்திகளே என்கிறது பாடல்.

and it is the Siva powers, the verse says, who mature the soul there and bear it to the higher state.

இடகலை பிங்கலை நாடிகளின் மேல் சுழுமுனைத் தலையில் இருக்கும் சிவசக்தி,

The Siva power, Sadasiva Nayaki, who dwells above idakalai and pingalai at the head of sushumna,

இடகலை பிங்கலை என்ற இரண்டு நாடிகள் வழியாக மூச்சுக்காற்று செல்லும்போது, உடலில் உள்ள மண்டலங்களையும் நரம்புத் தொகுதிகளையும் தாண்டி,

when the breath moves through the two nadis idakalai and pingalai, crosses the body's regions and bundles of nerves,

ஆறு சக்கரங்களில் உள்ள ஐம்பத்தொன்று கிளைகள் வழியாகக் கலந்து, ஆயிரம் தாமரை இதழ்களைக் கொண்ட சகஸ்ரதளத்தை அடைகின்றது.

and, mingling through the fifty one branches within the six chakras, reaches the sahasrara of a thousand lotus petals.

காலத்தைக் கடப்பதற்குத் துணை செய்வது ஐம்முகச் சக்தியே ஆகும்; உயிரின் காலத்தைக் கடக்கச் செய்வதும் ஐம்முகங்களோடு கூடிய சதாசிவனின் நாயகியே ஆகும் என்கிறது பாடல்.

What aids the crossing of time is the five faced power, and it is that same Nayaki of Sadasivan, joined with five faces, the verse says, who makes the soul cross time.

பத்துத் திசைகளையும் பத்து முகங்களாகக் கொண்டிருக்கும் சதாசிவசக்திக்கு,

To Sadasiva shakti, who has the ten directions as her ten faces,

உயிரின் மூச்சுக்காற்றுடன் உடலில் இருக்கும் பத்து வாயுக்களும் பத்து ஆயுதங்களாகும்.

the ten winds that dwell in the body along with the soul's own breath serve as her ten weapons.

இந்தப் பத்து ஆயுதங்களும், கீழே பார்த்த சகஸ்ரதளம் மேலே பார்த்த சகஸ்ரதளம் என்று இரண்டு வடிவங்களாக இருக்கும் அச் சக்தியுடன், உருவமற்ற நிலையிலும் ஆயிரம் இதழ்கள் கொண்ட தாமரை மலராகிய சகஸ்ரார தளத்திலும் என்றும் ஒடுங்கியிருந்து,

These ten weapons, together with that power in her two forms, the sahasrara looked at from below and from above, remain forever gathered, whether formless or as the thousand-petalled lotus of the sahasrara,

பலகாலங்கள் பேரின்பத்தில் திளைத்திருக்க வைத்து அருளுவது, சதாசிவமூர்த்தியாகிய ஒரு சக்தியே என்கிறது பாடல்.

keeping one steeped in bliss for many ages; it is Sadasivamurthy, this one power alone, the verse says, who grants this.

தனக்கு நிகராக எதுவும் இல்லாமல் தானே தனிப் பொருளாக இருக்கும் இறைசக்தி ஒன்றே ஆகும்.

The divine power that has nothing equal to it, standing alone as itself, is the one power.

அந்த சக்தி மூச்சுக்காற்றை இயக்கி, யோக நிலையில் நடுநாடியாகிய ஒன்றன் வழியே செலுத்தி மேலேற்றும்போது,

That power moves the breath, sending it upward along the central nadi in the state of yoga:

உள்ளிழுக்கும் மூச்சுக்காற்று ஆயிரமாயிரம் நாடி நரம்புகளைக் கடந்து உடல் முழுவதற்கும் சக்தியூட்டி, ஒவ்வொரு சக்கரங்களாக வெற்றிகொண்டு மேலெழுகின்றது.

the breath drawn in crosses thousands upon thousands of nadis and nerves, energizes the whole body, and rises taking each chakra in turn.

அங்கே சுழுமுனை நாடியில் கவிழ்ந்த சகஸ்ரதளத்தை நிமிர்ந்த சகஸ்ரதளமாக மாற்றியமைத்து, காலத்தையும் கடக்கச் செய்யும் என்கிறது பாடல்.

There in the sushumna nadi it turns the sahasrara, that had hung bowed down, into an upright sahasrara, and, the verse says, makes one cross time as well.

தலையுச்சியின் முன்னே வீற்றிருக்கும் இறைசக்தியுடன், கீழிருந்து மேலெழுந்து சென்ற மூச்சுக்காற்று ஒன்றாகச் சேர்ந்து கலக்கும் விதத்தைச் சொன்னால்,

As for the way the breath, having risen from below, comes to join and mingle with the divine power seated before the crown of the head, the verse says it is this:

அடியிலிருந்து சுழுமுனை நாடி வழியே மேலெழும்பும் வாயு, உயிர்சக்தியாகிய குண்டலினியை எழுப்பி,

the wind rising through the sushumna nadi from the base awakens the kundalini, the life power,

மூலாதாரத்திலிருந்து ஒவ்வொரு சக்கரங்களாக, அவற்றின் ஐம்பத்தொரு இதழ்களின் வழியே சக்தியூட்டி (பாடல் #696 இல் கொடுத்துள்ளபடி), ஐந்து புலன்களுக்கும் செயல் திறனை அளித்து,

and, moving from the mūlādhāram through each chakra in turn by way of their fifty one petals (as given at Padal 696), gives the five senses their power to act,

மொத்தமாய் மேலே சென்று அங்கிருக்கும் சகஸ்ரார தளத்தில் முடிவடைகின்றது; உயிர்சக்தி அங்கிருக்கும் இறை சக்தியோடு கலக்கும் முறை இதுவே என்கிறது பாடல்.

and rises altogether to end at the sahasrara there. This, the verse says, is the way the life power comes to mingle with the divine power that dwells there.

ஆராய்ந்து அறிந்து கொள்ள முடியாத தலைவியாகிய ஆதிசக்தியுடனும், ஆராய்ந்து அறிந்து கொள்ள முடியாத குண்டலினி சக்தியுடனும் வாயு ஒன்றாகக் கலக்கும் அளவு எவ்வளவு என்று சொன்னால்,

As for the measure by which the wind comes to mingle as one with the unfathomable primal power, the mistress none can search out and know, and with the unfathomable kundalini power, the verse says it is this:

உயிர்கள் தமக்குள் இழுக்கப்படும் மூச்சுக்காற்றில் ஐந்நூற்று நாற்பது அளவுகளில்,

of the five hundred and forty measures of breath drawn into ourselves,

ஐந்நூற்று முப்பத்தொன்பது அளவு உடலின் சக்தியூட்டத்திற்குப் பயனாகி, மீதியிருப்பது ஒரு அளவே ஆகும்.

five hundred and thirty nine measures go to energize the body, and only one measure remains.

அந்த ஒரு அளவு வாயு மட்டும் உடலின் உள்ளிருந்து மேலே சென்று அங்கிருக்கும் இறை சக்தியோடு கலக்கின்றது என்கிறது பாடல்.

That one measure of wind alone, the verse says, rises from within the body to mingle with the divine power that dwells above.

பாடல் #700 இல் உள்ளபடி சகஸ்ரதளத்தில் வீற்றிருக்கும் நம் தந்தையாகிய இறைவனிடம் சென்று சேரும் ஒரு பங்கு காற்றின் அளவு,

As at Padal 700, the measure of one part of the breath that goes and joins our father, God, who dwells in the sahasrara,

உயிர்களின் உடலில் இருக்கும் இருநூற்று முப்பத்து மூன்று நாடிகளில் பரவிச் சென்று,

spreads through the two hundred and thirty three nadis in the body,

சகஸ்ரதளத்திலுள்ள ஆயிரம் இதழ்கள் கொண்ட தாமரை மலரை மலரச் செய்து சங்கமமாகிவிடுகின்றது.

causes the thousand-petalled lotus at the sahasrara to bloom, and comes to union there.

சங்கமமானதும், நமசிவாய என்னும் ஐந்து எழுத்து மந்திரமாய் சகஸ்ரதளத்தை இயக்குகிறது என்கிறது பாடல்.

The verse says that once united, it works upon the sahasrara as the five lettered mantra, Namasivaya.

பாடல் #700 இல் உள்ளபடி மூலாதாரத்தில் ஜோதி வடிவமாக இருக்கும் சக்தியுடன் ஓர் பங்கு மூச்சுக்காற்று கலக்கும்.

As at Padal 700, one part of the breath mingles with the power that stands in flame form at the mūlādhāram.

அந்த மூச்சுக்காற்று எழும் இடத்தைச் சொன்னால், எழுநூற்று இருபத்தொன்பது நாடிகள் வழியாக,

As for the place from which that breath rises, the verse says it moves out through seven hundred and twenty nine nadis,

நான்கு இதழ்களைக் கொண்ட மூலாதாரச் சக்கரத்தின் அக்கினியோடு இருந்தவாறே ஆரம்பிக்கின்றது.

beginning there in the fire of the mūlādhāra chakra of four petals.

பாடல் #701 இல் தலை உச்சியில் இருக்கும் சகஸ்ரதளத்தோடு மூச்சுக்காற்று கலக்கும் விதத்தைச் சொன்ன திருமூலர், இப்பாடலில் கீழே இருக்கும் மூலாதார சக்கரத்தில் மூச்சுக்காற்று கலக்கும் விதத்தைக் கூறுகிறார்.

Having told, at Padal 701, the way the breath mingles with the sahasrara at the crown, Thirumoolar here tells the way it mingles with the mūlādhāra chakra below.

உயிரின் உடலாகிய தேருக்கு ஆறு ஆதாரச் சக்கரங்கள் உள்ளன.

For the chariot that is life's body, there are six root chakras.

இந்த ஆறு ஆதாரச் சக்கரங்களின் வழியே சக்தியூட்டப்பட்ட வாயு, ஏழாவது ஆதாரமான சகஸ்ரதளத்திற்குச் சென்று, அங்கிருக்கும் இறைசக்தியோடு கலந்தபின்,

The wind, energized through these six root chakras, goes to the seventh root, the sahasrara, and once it mingles there with the divine power,

உருவாகின்ற அமிர்தம் அங்கிருந்து கீழிறங்கி எட்டாவது இடமாகிய உள் நாக்கிற்கு மேலே வந்து விழுகின்றது.

the nectar that forms descends from there and comes to fall above the inner tongue, the eighth place.

இவ்வாறு விழுகின்ற அமிர்தத்தைப் பருகிக்கொண்டே பேரின்பத்தில் திளைத்திருக்கும்போது, மாபெரும் நிலம் போன்ற உடலின் ஒன்பது துவாரங்களும் மூச்சுக்காற்றோடு இணைந்திருக்கும் என்கிறது பாடல்.

The verse says that while one drinks that falling nectar and remains steeped in bliss, the nine openings of the body, vast as a whole realm, stay joined with the breath.

சந்திரகலையாகிய இடகலை நாடியின் வழியே செல்லும் மூச்சுக்காற்றும், சூரியகலையாகிய பிங்கலை நாடியின் வழியே செல்லும் மூச்சுக்காற்றும்,

The breath that moves through idakalai, the moon channel, and the breath that moves through pingalai, the sun channel,

சுழுமுனை நாடி வழியே மேலே சென்று சிவபெருமான் இருக்கும் சகஸ்ரதளத்தில் இணைவதை,

rise through sushumna and join in the sahasrara where Sivan dwells.

புருவமத்தியில் இருக்கும் ஆக்ஞா சக்கரத்தில் பார்த்து அதிலேயே லயித்து, தன்னுடல் மேலும் இந்த உலகத்தின் மேலும் உள்ள பற்றுக்களை அறுத்து,

The verse says that those who behold this joining at the ājñā chakra between the brows and dissolve there, cutting off attachment to their own body and to this world,

பேரொளியாகிய இறைவனையே நினைத்துச் சமாதி நிலையில் இருப்பவர்கள் சிவ யோகியர்கள் ஆவார்கள்.

thinking only of God who is the great light and remaining in that state of samadhi, are Siva yogis.

உற்றார் உறவினர் சுற்றத்தார் ஆகியோரை விட்டு நீங்கி இருப்பதும்,

Staying apart from kin, relatives and one's own circle,

பணிவைத் தருகின்ற உண்மையான கல்வியால் வருகின்ற ஞானத்தை அதிகமாகக் கொண்டிருப்பதும்,

carrying the wisdom that comes from true learning, which brings humility,

எதையும் முணுமுணுக்காமல் உண்மையான மௌனத்தோடு அடங்கிக் கிடக்கும் சித்தர்கள் எண்ணத்தால் போதித்தவற்றைத் தமக்குள்ளேயே கேட்டுக்கொண்டிருப்பதும்,

listening within oneself, without muttering, to what silent siddhars have taught by thought alone, remaining in true silence,

உலக விஷயங்களில் அலைபாயாமல் ஒருமுகப்பட்ட மனதைக் கொண்டு எப்போதும் மூச்சுக்காற்றைத் தமக்குள்ளேயே வேகமாக ஏற்றி இறக்கித் தியானத்தில் இருப்பதும் சித்தர்களின் செயல்களாகும் என்கிறது பாடல்.

and, with a mind gathered to one point and not straying after worldly matters, always drawing the breath swiftly in and out within oneself, remaining in meditation, these, the verse says, are the acts of siddhars.

பாடல் #705 இல் கூறியுள்ள ஆறு தகுதிகளுடன்,

Along with the six qualities named at Padal 705,

எங்கிருந்தாலும் எப்போதும் அருள் வெளியோடு கலந்திருத்தலும்,

staying always and everywhere joined with the outpouring of grace,

இந்த உலகத்தில் இருப்பவர்களுக்குப் பலவித நற்செயல்கள் செய்து பெற்ற பலன்களைப் பித்ருக்களுக்குச் சமர்ப்பணமாக அளித்தலும்,

offering to the ancestors the merit gained from the many good deeds done for those in this world,

சிவபெருமானை உணர்ந்து அவனது திருவுருவமாகவே மாறுவதும் ஆகிய தகுதிகளைப் பலவித யோகங்கள் மூலமாகக் கற்று, தமது கையில் இருக்கும் பொருள் போலத் தெள்ளத் தெளிவாக உணர்ந்தவர்களே சித்தர்கள் ஆவார்கள் என்கிறது பாடல்.

and realizing Sivan and coming to take on his very form, learned through various yogas and known as clearly as an object held in the hand, those, the verse says, are siddhars.

இறைவனைக் காண வேண்டுமென்று ஓயாமல் அலைகள் அடித்துக்கொண்டிருக்கும் கடல்கள் சூழ்ந்த இந்த உலகம் முழுவதையும்,

This whole world, ringed by seas whose waves beat on without rest, searched in order to see God,

தனது பாதங்கள் வலிக்கும் வரை நடந்து தேடினாலும் ஒரு பயனும் இல்லை.

even walked until one's own feet ache, brings no benefit at all.

பார்க்கும் அனைத்தையும் இறைவனாகப் பார்த்து அந்த இறைவன்மேல் உண்மையான அன்பைச் செலுத்துபவர்கள்,

The verse says that those who see all they look upon as God, and direct true love toward that God,

தமது உள்ளமாகிய திருக்கோயிலிலேயே இறைவன் வீற்றிருக்கின்றான் என்பதை அறிந்துகொள்வார்கள்.

come to know that God dwells enthroned in the very temple that is their own heart.

மூலாதாரத்தில் வீற்றிருந்து வேதங்களை ஓதிக்கொண்டே இருக்கின்ற பிரம்மனும், சுவாதிட்டானத்தில் வீற்றிருக்கின்ற திருமாலும், மணிப்பூரகத்தில் வீற்றிருக்கின்ற உருத்திரனும், அநாகதத்தில் வீற்றிருக்கின்ற மகேஸ்வரனும்,

Brahma, seated at the mūlādhāram, endlessly reciting the Vedas; Tirumal, seated at the swadhishthana; Rudra, seated at the manipuraka; Maheswaran, seated at the anahata;

விசுத்தியில் வீற்றிருக்கின்ற சதாசிவனும், ஆக்ஞையில் வீற்றிருக்கின்ற ஒளியும், சகஸ்ரரத்தில் வீற்றிருக்கின்ற ஒலியும்,

Sadasivan, seated at the vishuddhi; the light seated at the ajna; the sound seated at the sahasrara;

அதைத் தாண்டி உள் நாக்கிற்கு மேலே அமிர்தம் கொட்டுகின்ற இடத்தில் வீற்றிருக்கும் பரஒளியும், தலை உச்சியிலிருந்து பன்னிரண்டு அங்குலம் உயரத்தில் உள்ள துவாதசாந்த வெளியில் வீற்றிருக்கும் பரஒலியும் ஆகிய இந்த ஒன்பதுவிதமான சக்திகளும்,

the supreme light seated beyond that, at the place above the inner tongue where nectar pours; and the supreme sound seated in the space twelve fingers above the crown, the dvadasanta, these nine powers together,

அசையாத சக்தி (பரன்-சிவம்), அசையும் சக்தி (பரை-சக்தி) என்று இரண்டாக விளங்கும் பராபரையின் திருவடிகளே என்கிறது பாடல்.

the verse says, standing as the unmoving power, Paran who is Sivam, and the moving power, Parai who is Shakti, are the very holy feet of Paraparai.

யோகத்தின் மூலம் குண்டலினி சக்தியை மேலெழுப்பி, மூலாதாரம் முதலிய ஆறு ஆதார சக்கரங்களிலும் வீற்றிருக்கும் மூர்த்திகளோடும் கலந்து சென்று,

The verse speaks of raising the kundalini power through yoga, joining and mingling with the deities that dwell at the six root chakras, mūlādhāram and the rest,

அதற்கு மேலே இருக்கும் சகஸ்ரதளத்தில் வீற்றிருக்கும் சதாசிவமூர்த்தியோடு இணைந்து அமிர்தமாகி,

uniting further with Sadasivamurthy who dwells at the sahasrara above them and becoming nectar,

தலை உச்சியிலிருந்து நான்கு அங்குலத்திற்குக் கீழே இருக்கும் உள் நாக்கில் பரஒளியாகிய அசையும் சக்தியுடன் கலந்து,

then mingling, at the inner tongue four fingers below the crown, with the moving power that is the supreme light,

அதன்பிறகு தலை உச்சியிலிருந்து பன்னிரண்டு அங்குலத்திற்கு மேலே இருக்கும் துவாதசாந்த வெளியில் இருக்கும் பரநாதமாகிய அசையா சக்தியோடு இரண்டறக் கலந்திருப்பதே பேரின்பம் கொடுக்கும் ஆனந்த யோகம் என்கிறது பாடல்.

and thereafter rising to be joined inseparably, in the space twelve fingers above the crown, the dvadasanta, with the unmoving power that is the supreme sound: this, the verse says, is Ananda Yoga, the bliss giving union.

குளிர்ச்சியான சந்திரனின் குணம் கொண்ட இடகலையின் வழியும், வெப்பமான சூரியனின் குணம் கொண்ட பிங்கலையின் வழியும் உள்ளிழுத்த மூச்சுக்காற்றுகளைச் சுழுமுனை நாடி வழியே ஒன்றாகச் சேர்த்து மேலெழுப்பிச் சென்று,

The breath drawn in through idakalai, cool with the moon's nature, and through pingalai, hot with the sun's nature, joined as one through the sushumna nadi and raised upward,

சகஸ்ரதளத்தில் வீற்றிருக்கும் இறைவனிடம் ஒன்றாகக் கலக்கும்படி செய்யும் அகயோகத்தை உண்மையாகக் கடைப்பிடித்திருக்கும் சித்தர்களுக்கு,

unites with God who dwells in the sahasrara; the verse says that to the siddhars who truly hold to this aha yoga,

அதையும் தாண்டிய ஆனந்த யோகத்தில் தன்னை அடையும் வழியைக் காட்டி,

God shows the way to reach him further still, through Ananda Yoga beyond that,

அங்கே அவர்களுடன் கலந்து இறைவனும் நிற்கின்றான் என்கிறது பாடல்.

and stands there mingled with them, the verse says.

கீழ்நோக்கிச் செல்லும் மூச்சுக்காற்றை மேல்நோக்கிச் செல்ல வைத்து, அதைச் சுழுமுனை நாடியோடு கட்டி வைக்கும் திறனைப் பெற்ற யோகி,

The yogi who gains the skill to turn the downward moving breath upward and bind it with the sushumna nadi,

இவ்வாறு நிலைநிறுத்தி அறிந்தவர்களுக்கு இனி எமன் இல்லை என்கிறது பாடல்.

for one who comes to know this, fixed so, the verse says Yama has no hold any longer.

இப்படிக் கட்ட வல்லவர்கள் அனைத்தும் தாமே என்று உணர்ந்து, எங்கும் கலந்து நிற்பார்கள்.

Those able to bind the breath so come to know that all things are themselves, and stand mingled everywhere.

சகஸ்ரதளத்தில் மலர்ந்த தேன் சொரியும் தாமரையுள் இறைவனோடு இணைந்து, இனி எப்போதும் இறந்து பிறவாத நிலையை அடைவார் என்கிறது பாடல்.

Uniting with God within the honey flowing lotus blossomed at the sahasrara, they come, the verse says, to reach the state where they die and are born no more.
