21. சந்திர யோகம்

எண்ணங்கள் தூல உடலில் இருந்து சூக்கும உடலுக்கு ஏறியும்,

Thoughts rise from the gross body to the subtle body,

சூக்கும உடலில் இருந்து தூல உடலுக்கு இறங்கியும் வரும்.

and descend again from the subtle body to the gross body.

இது சந்திரனின் வளர்பிறை தேய்பிறை போன்று இருக்கும்.

This is like the moon's waxing and waning.

சூக்கும உடல் தூய்மை அடைவதற்கு ஏற்பத் தூல உடம்பும் தூய்மை அடையும்.

As the subtle body attains purity, the gross body too attains purity accordingly.

உயிர்களின் உடலில் இருக்கும் சந்திர மண்டலத்திற்குப் பதினாறு கலைகளும்,

In the bodies of living beings, the moon's sphere has sixteen kalais,

சூரிய மண்டலத்திற்குப் பன்னிரண்டு கலைகளும், அங்கி மண்டலத்திற்குப் பத்துக் கலைகளும் உள்ளன.

the sun's sphere has twelve kalais, and the fire's sphere has ten kalais.

இவை அனைத்தும் சென்றுவரும் இடைவழியை யோகியர் நன்கு அறிந்திருக்கிறார்கள்.

Yogis have come to know well the in-between path by which all of these travel.

(கலைகள் என்பது மூச்சுக்காற்று தானாக உள்ளேயும் வெளியேயும் செல்லும் விதத்தைக் குறிப்பதாகும்.)

(Kalais refer to the way the breath moves in and out on its own.)

சூரியனின் பன்னிரண்டு கலைகளையும்,

It is said that one who knows how to join the sun's twelve kalais,

சந்திரனின் பதினாறு கலைகளையும்,

and the moon's sixteen kalais,

அங்கியுடன் சேர்க்க அறிந்தவர்,

together with the fire,

உலகம் விரும்பும் பேறுகளை அடைவார் என்று கூறப்படுகிறது.

attains the boons that the world desires.

சூரியகலை உயரும் அளவு பன்னிரண்டு ஆகும்.

The extent to which the sun's kalai rises is twelve.

சந்திரகலை செல்லும் அளவு பதினாறு ஆகும்.

The extent to which the moon's kalai goes is sixteen.

அங்கியின் கலை உயரும் அளவு அறுபத்து நான்கு ஆகும்.

The extent to which the fire's kalai rises is sixty-four.

இம்மூன்றையும் ஆராய்ந்து அறிந்துகொள்ளுங்கள்.

Investigate and come to know all three of these.

அங்கியின் கலைகள் அறுபத்து நான்கு.

The fire's kalais are sixty-four.

சூரியனின் கலைகள் பன்னிரண்டு.

The sun's kalais are twelve.

சந்திரனின் கலைகள் பதினாறு.

The moon's kalais are sixteen.

இவை அனைத்தும் ஒன்றை ஒன்று சூழ்ந்திருந்தாலும், தனித்தனியாகவே விளங்கிக் கொண்டிருக்கும்.

Though all of these surround one another, each stands distinct on its own.

அங்கிக்கு அறுபத்து நான்கும், சூரியனுக்குப் பன்னிரண்டும், சந்திரனுக்குப் பதினாறும் என,

With sixty-four kalais for fire, twelve for the sun and sixteen for the moon,

கலைகள் தொண்ணூற்றிரண்டு சேர்ந்திருக்க,

making ninety-two together,

நட்சத்திரக் கலை நான்கும் கூடிக் கட்டப்பட்டுள்ளன.

four star-kalais are joined and bound with them.

இவ்வாறு ஒன்றாகக் கட்டப்பட்டுள்ள கலைகள் மொத்தம் தொண்ணூற்றாறு ஆகும்.

Thus, all the kalais bound together in this way total ninety-six.

இடகலை, பிங்கலை ஆகிய நாடிகளின் வழியே செல்லும் கலைகள் அனைத்தும், அதாவது மூச்சுக்காற்று,

All the kalai, the breath, through the ida and pingala channels,

நடுவில் ஓடுகின்ற நாடி என்று சொல்லப்படுவதன் வழியே, மூலத்திலிருந்து தொடர்ந்து,

through what is called the nadi running in the middle, continually from the root,

மேல் நோக்கி எழுப்பப்பட்டுத் தலையுடன் சேரும்படி எடுத்துச் செல்லப்படுகின்றன.

raised upward and carried to unite with the head,

அவ்வாறு செய்யும் யோகியர்கள், நல்லவனாகிய இறைவனின் திருவடியை அடைந்து அதிலேயே நிலைத்து நிற்பார்கள்.

such yogis reach the sacred feet of the noble one, the Lord, and stand established there.

மூலத்தில் உள்ள நெருப்பினுடைய சிறு கதிர்கள் அசைவதால்,

From the small rays of the root fire, stirred into motion,

அவை சசி, பானு என்னும் சந்திரன் சூரியன் ஆகிய இரு நட்சத்திரங்களாக நிலைபெறுகின்றன.

they settle and become the stars called sasi and bhanu, the moon and the sun.

மேலும் பரவிச் செல்லும் அந்த ஒளியே பரையொளி என்னும் நட்சத்திரமாகவும் ஆகின்றது.

That light, spreading further, itself becomes the star called paraioli, the supreme light.

இவை அனைத்தும் தரணி என்னும் உலகிற்கு ஒன்பது சக்கரங்களாக நிலைத்திருக்கின்றன.

All these abide as nine wheels for taranu, the world.

உயிர்களின் உடலில் இருக்கும் நிலம், நீர், நெருப்பு, காற்றைத் தாங்கும் வானம் ஆகியவற்றுடன்,

The earth, water, fire, and the sky that bears the wind, dwelling in beings' bodies,

சூரியன், அரிய திங்கள், அங்கி ஆகியவையும் சேர்ந்து,

together with the sun, the rare moon, and fire,

மாறுபடும் தாரகையும் சேர்ந்து, மொத்தம் ஒன்பது வகையான அம்சங்களாக நிற்கின்றன.

and the contending star, standing in all as nine kinds of aspects,

இவை பிரணவமாகிய இறை சக்தியின் அம்சங்களே; இவற்றைக் கொண்டு செய்யப்படும் யோகமே இறைவனை அடைவதற்கு உதவும் பெரிய நெறியாகும்.

these are aspects of the divine power that is pranavam; the yoga performed with them is the great path to attaining God.

வானத்து நட்சத்திரங்கள் சந்திரனின் தேய்பிறையின்போது பிரகாசமாக மின்னும்.

The stars in the sky shine brightly when the moon wanes.

சந்திரன் வளரும்போது நட்சத்திரங்களின் ஒளி மங்கிவிடும்.

When the moon waxes, the stars' light dims.

அதுபோலவே, கீழே தோன்றும் ஒளியும், மேல் நோக்கிச் சென்று சேரும்போது, அங்குள்ள பேரொளியில் மங்கிவிடும்.

In the same way, the light that appears below dims into the greater light above when it rises and merges there.

அப்படி ஒன்றிச் சேரும் யோகியரிடம் பிரகாசிக்கும் அந்த ஒளியே, அனைத்தையும் உருவாக்கும் இறைவனின் சொரூபமாகும்.

In yogis who reach that union, the light that shines is the very form of God who creates everything.

சந்திரன் முதல் பதினைந்து நாட்கள் சிறிது சிறிதாக வளர்ந்து முழுநிலவில் முழுமை அடைகிறது.

For the first fifteen days the moon waxes little by little until it reaches fullness at the full moon.

பின்னர் பதினைந்து நாட்கள் சிறிது சிறிதாகத் தேய்ந்து அமாவாசையில் முற்றிலும் மறைந்துவிடுகிறது.

Then for the next fifteen days it wanes little by little until it disappears completely at the new moon.

அவ்வாறே, தமக்குள் ஒரு ஒளி தோன்றி வளர்ந்து பின் முற்றிலும் மறையும் அந்தப் பதினைந்து நிலைகளையும் உணர்ந்து அறியவல்லவர்களுக்கு,

In the same way, for those able to realize and know those fifteen states in which a light within them appears, grows and disappears,

சொற்களால் கூறமுடியாத பெருமையுடைய இறைவனின் திருவடிகளைத் தமக்குள்ளேயே கண்டு அடைவது கூடும்.

it becomes possible to find and attain within themselves the sacred feet of the Lord whose greatness cannot be told in words.

மூலத்தில் உள்ள நெருப்பை எழுப்பி, அரிய கதிர் வட்டத்தில் தங்கியிருப்பதனுடன் சேர்த்து,

Raising the fire at the root, joining it with what resides in the circle of the rare ray,

அதாவது சந்திரக் கலையுடன் சேர்த்து, ஒளிக்கீற்று வளர்ந்து பெருகி,

the moon-kalai, causing the light to grow and swell,

ஒரு நட்சத்திரமாகும்படிச் செய்து, ஐம்புலன்களையும் அவற்றின் வழியில் செல்ல விடாமல் தடுத்து,

into a star, and holding back the five senses from following their own paths,

மனத்தை ஒருமுகப்படுத்தி, திங்களும் கதிரும் அங்கியும் ஒன்றுசேரும் இடத்தை அடைவதே யோகம் ஆகும்.

focusing the mind and reaching the place where moon, ray and fire unite together, that is yoga.

வானத்தில் இருக்கும் வளர்பிறை தேய்பிறை சந்திர மாற்றங்களின் பதினாறு கலைகளும் உயிர்களின் உடலுக்குள்ளும் இருக்கின்றன.

That the sixteen kalai of the sky's waxing and waning moon changes exist also within the body of beings,

அதைக் கண்டறிந்த பின்னரும், அதைக் கொண்டு இறைவனை நினைத்து முயற்சி செய்யாத கீழ்மையான குணமுடையோரை,

even after seeing this, those of base nature who do not use it to keep God in mind and try,

கொடிய எமன் கண்டு, இவர்கள் இனி வாழ்ந்து என்ன பயன் என்று எண்ணி, மரணம் என்னும் கருவறைக் குழியில் அவர்களைச் சிக்க வைக்க,

the fierce Yama, seeing them and thinking 'what use is it for them to live on,' having trapped them in the womb-pit of death,

அவர்கள் அதில் வீழ்ந்து, மீண்டும் பிறவிச் சுழற்சியில் அகப்பட்டு, எப்படித் தப்பிப்பது என்று திகைத்தே இருக்கிறார்கள்.

they fall into it, are caught again in the cycle of birth, and remain bewildered about how to escape.

நெருப்பு சந்திரனுடன் இணையும்போது அது சூரிய ஒளியாகிறது.

When fire unites with the moon, it becomes the sun's light.

நெருப்பு கதிருடன் இணையும்போது அது சந்திர ஒளியாகிறது.

When fire unites with the ray, it becomes the moon's light.

நெருப்பு சந்திரனுடனும் கதிருடனும் இணையும்போது அது நட்சத்திரமாகிறது.

When fire unites with both the moon and the ray, it becomes the star.

அங்கு நிலைத்திருப்பதே எல்லாமுமாகும்.

What abides there is everything.

பன்னிரண்டு கலைகள் கொண்ட சூரியக்கலை பெண் கலையாகும்; பதினாறு கலைகள் கொண்ட சந்திரக்கலை ஆண் கலையாகும்.

The sun-kalai of twelve digits is the female kalai; the moon-kalai of sixteen digits is the male kalai.

பிறழாமல் உள்ளே புகுந்து, அவ்விரு கலைகளையும் பிடித்துக் கொண்டுவந்து,

Entering without swerving, holding them, and bringing them together,

இரண்டையும் பயிற்சியால் ஒருநிலைப்படுத்தி, நேராகத் தோன்றும் நெருப்புள் சேர்த்தால்,

if both are, through practice, brought to a single steady state and set within the fire that rightly appears,

தெவிட்டாத ஆனந்தம் ஆனந்தமாகவே கிடைக்கும்.

bliss that never surfeits comes as bliss itself.

தெரியும் சூரியனின் வழியை இடப்பக்கம் செலுத்தி,

Directing the visible sun's course to the left side,

மறையும் சந்திரனின் வழியை வலப்பக்கம் செலுத்தி,

and the waning moon's course to the right side,

குரு கற்பித்த வழியில் தவறின்றி இதைப் பேணிச் செய்துவந்தால்,

if this is carried out with care, without fail, in the way the guru taught,

ஆயிரம் ஆண்டுகள் சென்றாலும் உடலின் உறுதி சிறிதும் தளராது என்கிறது பாடல்.

the verse says that even after a thousand years pass, the body's firmness will not falter at all.

நெஞ்சில் ஒலிக்கும் பறையோசை ஒன்பது நிலைகளிலும் கேட்கும்.

The drum-sound resounding in the heart is heard through nine levels.

அங்கே அமரரின் பரம்பொருள் ஒலிக்கும்.

There the supreme being of the immortals resounds.

அதை உள்ளுணர்ந்து, அந்த ஒலியிலேயே மனத்தை ஒருமுகப்படுத்தித் தியானம் தொடர்பவர்க்கு, மேலைநிலைக்கு முன்னே அவன் விளக்கொளியாய் நிற்பான்;

For those who sense this within and continue meditation with the mind fixed wholly on that sound, he stands as lamp-light before the higher realm;

தினமும் காலையில் தோன்றி ஒளி தரும் கதிரவனைப் போல, தூய சங்கின் வெண்ணொளியில் அவன் அவர்களுக்குள்ளேயே தோன்றுவான்.

and, like the sun that rises each morning to give light, he appears within them in the pure white of a conch.

சூரிய கலையும் சந்திர கலையும் உயிர்களின் உடலுக்குக் காலத்தை அளக்கும் கருவிகளாகும்.

The sun-kalai and the moon-kalai are the instruments that measure time for the bodies of beings.

அவை ஒன்று சேரும் இடத்தில் மழை பொழிவதைப் போன்ற ஒன்று உண்டாகும்.

Where they unite, something like a shower of rain arises.

அங்கிருந்து மேலெழுந்து, அண்டத்திற்கும் அப்பால் சென்று அடர்ந்து நிற்கும் இடம் நோக்கிச் சென்றால்,

Rising from there and going beyond the cosmos to where it stands dense,

எதிர்நிற்கும் அந்த ஈசனின் இடத்தை உணரலாம் என்கிறது பாடல்.

one may sense the place of that facing Ishan, the Lord, the verse says.

உந்தித் தாமரையில் தோன்றி மேலெழும் ஒளியை,

The light that rises up, appearing in the navel-lotus,

அடைவதற்குரிய மந்திரத்தை யாரும் அறிந்திலர்.

none have known the mantra to reach it.

ஆனால் அந்த மந்திரத்தை அறிந்துகொண்டவர்களுக்கோ,

But for those who have come to know that mantra,

தந்தைக்கு முன்பாகவே மகன் பிறந்தான் என்கிற நிலை உண்டாகும்.

it comes to be as though the son were born before the father.

நூல்களின் பயனைச் சிறிதும் உணராதவர்கள், மற்றவர்கள் அப்பயனைக் கூறினாலும் உணரமாட்டார்கள்;

Those who do not grasp the benefit of texts at all, even when others explain it to them,

கற்றபின்பும் ஏதும் அறியாத அறிவிலிகளாகவே இருப்பார்கள்.

remain unwise, knowing nothing, even after learning them.

உள் சக்தி தோன்றும் இடத்தை மட்டுமின்றி, அது முடியும் இடத்தையும் சேர்த்து அறியவல்லவர்களுக்கோ,

But for those able to realize not only where it arises but also join it to where it ends,

அங்கு சிவன் வெளிப்படுவான்.

Sivan will manifest there.

சந்திர யோகப் பயிற்சியால் எழுப்பப்படும் பாம்பு நாள்தோறும் சந்திரக் கலையை உண்ணும்;

The serpent roused by chandra-yoga practice feeds daily on the moon-kalai;

அதுவும் போதாதென்று, தீங்குத் தரும் கதிராகிய சூரியக் கலையையும் உண்டு வளரும்.

and, not satisfied with that, feeds too on the harmful ray, the sun-kalai, and grows.

பாம்பும் கலைகளும் இறுதியில் ஒன்று சேர்க்கப்பட்டு, அவற்றின் பகை தீர்க்கப்பட்டால்,

If the serpent and the kalai are finally brought together and their enmity ended,

மாபெரும் கருணையாளனான இறைவன் யோகியை விட்டு என்றும் நீங்கமாட்டான் என்கிறது பாடல்.

then the greatly compassionate Lord will never leave the yogi, the verse says.

மேலே சென்ற சந்திரன், தலையின்மேல் நிற்கும் நிலையை உறங்காமல் கவனிக்கும்.

The moon that has risen watches, without sleeping, over the state where it stands above the head.

பின்பு பயின்ற சந்திரன் கீழிறங்கும் நேரத்தில் உறங்கும்.

Then, at the time the practiced moon descends, it sleeps.

நன்மை தரும் ஒளியை மனத்தில் நிலைக்கச் செய்தால்,

If the light that brings good is made to stay fixed in the mind,

அப்போது வியக்கத்தக்க முழுமையுடன் சந்திரக் கலை யோகியிடம் பொருந்தும்.

then, with wondrous fullness, the moon-kalai comes to accord with the yogi.

சந்திரன் உதிக்கும் வரை உறங்காமல் இருந்து,

Remaining without sleep until the moon rises,

சந்திரன் உதித்தபின் தமது உணவை அருந்தி,

and once the moon has risen, partaking of one's food,

சந்திரன் சரியும் வரை உறங்காமல் இருந்து,

remaining without sleep until the moon moves on and sets,

சந்திரன் சரியும்போது தமது கண் உறக்கம் கொள்ளும்.

and, when the moon sets, one's own eyes take to sleep.

ஊழிக் காலங்கள் பல கடந்தும் அழியாமல் உலகில் வாழும் யோகிகள்,

Yogis who live on in the world without perishing through many aeons,

தாம் யோகத்தில் இருக்கும் நாழிகையையே தமது ஆயுளின் அளவுகோலாகக் கொண்டு எமனை எதிர்த்து நிற்பார்கள்.

treat the very unit of time they spend in yoga as the measure of their own lifespan, and stand against Yama.

ஆனால் சந்திர யோகத்தைப் பின்பற்றும் யோகியரோ, ஊழிக்கே முதல்வனான இறைவனே தாமாகி,

But yogis who follow chandra yoga themselves become one with God who is first of the aeons,

இனி இவ்வுலகில் மீண்டும் பிறவாத உயர்நிலையை அடைவார்கள் என்கிறது பாடல்.

and attain the exalted state of never being born again in this world, the verse says.

குளிர்ந்த நிலவும் சூரியனும் சரிபாதியாகப் பூமிக்கு வெளிச்சம் கொடுத்து,

The cool moon and the sun, giving light to the earth in equal halves,

மண்ணுலகில் மூன்று வகைக் காலங்களையும் அறிந்துகொள்வதற்கு வழியாக இருக்கின்றன.

are the means by which the world of earth comes to know the three kinds of time.

அதுபோலவே, உடலில் சூரியக் கலையையும் சந்திரக் கலையையும் கொண்டு உள் சக்தியை மேலேற்றிச் சந்திர மண்டலத்தில் சேர்த்து, தூய வெண்ணொளி தோன்றும் நாளில் இது கைகூடினால்,

In the same way, when in the body one raises the inner power using the sun-kalai and moon-kalai, joins it to the moon-mandala, and on the day the pure white light appears, this comes to fruit,

குறையின்றிக் குளிர்ந்த அமிர்தம் எப்போதும் கிடைத்துக் கொண்டே இருக்கும்.

cool nectar will keep coming without any lack, at all times.

வளர்கின்ற சூரியக் கலையின் ஆறும்,

The waxing sun-kalai's six,

தேய்கின்ற சந்திரக் கலையின் ஆறும்,

and the waning moon-kalai's six,

மூச்சுக்காற்றாய் மலர்ந்தெழுந்து, மொத்தம் பன்னிரண்டு அங்குலம் ஓடி,

run as the breath, blossoming up, twelve digits in all,

உடலெங்கும் விரிந்து பரவும்; அந்த யோக முறையை யாரும் அறியவில்லை.

spreading out through the body; that yoga-method, none have known.

முழு நிலவுக்கு முன்பே பயிற்சி நிறைவுற்ற யோகிக்கு, அதன்பின் வரும் தேய்பிறை நாட்களில், விந்து,

For the yogi whose practice is completed before the full moon, in the waning days, the seed,

வழக்கம்போல் கீழிறங்கித் தன் வழியே வெளியேறாமல், எங்கும் போகாது.

instead of descending and leaving by its usual path, does not go anywhere.

விருப்பம் சிறிதும் இன்றி, மூலத்திலேயே கட்டுண்டு நிற்கும்.

Wholly without desire, it stays bound at the root itself.

அத்தகைய யோகியர் மூச்சுக்காற்றை ஓங்கார மந்திரத்துடன் இணைத்து, சந்திர மண்டலத்தில் கலந்து, தமது எண்ணங்களை அதிலேயே நிலைநிறுத்தி, அனைத்து உணர்வுகளையும் தாண்டிய நிலையில் இருப்பார்கள்.

Such yogis join the breath with the pranava mantra, merge in the moon-mandala, fix their thoughts there, and remain in a state beyond all the senses.

மெய்யுணர்வைத் தரும் செம்மையான ஆறு சூரியக் கலைகளும்,

The upright six sun-kalai, which give true knowledge,

வெப்பம் தரும் நான்கு அக்கினிக் கலைகளும் அவற்றுடன் தொடர்ந்து கலந்து நிற்கும்.

and the four fire-kalai, which give heat, remain continually joined with them.

ஈடிணையற்ற இறைவனை அடைய உதவும் பத்து நல்ல கலைகளும்,

Ten good kalai that help one reach the matchless Lord,

குளிர்ச்சி தரும் ஆறு சந்திரக் கலைகளும் சேர்ந்து, மொத்தம் பதினாறு கலைகளும் ஒன்றாகிச் சந்திர மண்டலத்தை அடையும்; அப்போது உணர்வுகளை விட்டு விலகி இறைவனையே நினைத்திருக்கும் பேரானந்த நிலையை யோகியர் அடைவார்கள்.

and six cooling moon-kalai, sixteen in all, come together and, reaching the moon-mandala, bring yogis to a state of supreme bliss, set apart from the senses, thinking only of the Lord.

உணர்வுக்கு வாயிலாக உள்ள ஒளியும் ஒலியும் ஒன்றாகக் கலக்க,

When the light and the sound that serve as the gateway to awareness unite as one,

சூரியக் கலையின் கதிர்கள் குறையுமானால்,

and the rays of the sun-kalai diminish,

ஒளி தலைக்கு மேலே தோன்றும்; ஒளியாகிய நுண்ணுடலும் உணர்வும் ஒன்றாக நிற்குமானால்,

light appears above the head; if the subtle body that is light and one's awareness stand as one,

யோகியின் உடல் அழியாது என்கிறது பாடல்.

the yogi's body does not perish, the verse says.

தன் விருப்பப்படி அலையும் மனம், மூச்சுக்காற்றுடன் இணைந்து,

The mind that wanders as it pleases, joined with the breath,

நடு நாடி வழியே மேலேறி, தலை உச்சியில் இறைச் சப்தங்களின் உயர்ந்த சங்கொலியைக் கேட்கும்.

rises through the middle channel and hears the high conch-sound of the divine reverberations at the crown.

மதம் பிடித்த யானையைப் போல அலையும் ஐந்து புலன்களும் யோகியின் வசப்பட்டு, உடலுக்குள் அடங்கி இயங்கும் இடமாக அது ஆகும்.

It becomes the seat where the five senses, which roam like a rutting elephant, come under the yogi's control and act bound within the body.

திகட்டாத பேரின்பம் தரும் அமிர்தத்தை யோகியர் எப்போதும் பருகிக் கொண்டிருப்பார்கள் என்கிறது பாடல்.

The verse says the yogi keeps drinking always the nectar that gives never-cloying bliss.

அமுத நீர் வரும் ஆற்றின் கரைமேல்,

At the bank of the river where the water of nectar flows,

குமிழி எழும்படி, தம்முடைய ஐந்து ஒளிகளையும் ஒன்றாக இணைத்து,

so that bubbles rise, joining their own five lights together as one,

காலம் தவறாமல் மூச்சைச் செலுத்தி நிலைநிறுத்த வல்லவர்களுக்கு,

for those able, without fail of time, to direct and hold the breath steady,

எமன் இல்லை; நல்ல கலைகளுக்கும் நாள் கணக்கு இல்லை என்கிறது பாடல்.

the verse says there is no Yama, and no counting of days even for the good kalai.

புருவ மத்தியில் அமுதம் விளையும் ஊற்றைத் திறந்து, வற்றாத அமுதத்தைப் பருகி,

Opening the spring between the brows where nectar wells up, drinking the nectar that never runs dry,

இறைவனின் ஈடிணையற்ற தாமரை மலர் போன்ற திருவடிகளை மட்டுமே நினைத்து,

thinking only of the Lord's matchless, lotus-like sacred feet,

வெளியுலகின் எதுவும் பாதிக்காத தெளிந்த சமாதி நிலையில், தீராத நன்மையுடன் அமர்ந்து,

sitting in a clear samadhi that nothing of the outer world can touch, with unfading wellbeing,

ஞானக்கண் வழியே அனைத்தையும் கண்டு, மூச்சுக்காற்றின் இயக்கத்தை உள்ளேயே செல்லுமாறு மாற்றி, திகட்டாத பேரானந்தத்தில் எப்போதும் திளைத்திருப்பார்கள்.

seeing everything through the eye of wisdom, changing the breath's course to run within, and remaining immersed always in a bliss that never cloys.

இட நாடி வழியாகவும் வல நாடி வழியாகவும் இயங்கும் இயல்பான மூச்சில் மாறி மாறி வரும் சந்திரக் கலையும் சூரியக் கலையும், அவ்வாறு மாறுபடாமல்,

The moon-kalai and sun-kalai, which ordinarily change between running through the left and right channels, made to run without alternating,

தடையின்றியும் குறைவின்றியும் சீராக நடு நாடி வழியே சென்று, தலை உச்சியை அடைந்தால்,

steadily, without obstruction or falling short, through the middle channel, and reaching the crown of the head,

எதனாலும் பாதிக்கப்படாத அழியாத உடலை அடையும் வழியும்,

the means to an imperishable body that nothing can harm,

திகட்டாமல் அளவின்றிப் பெருகும் பேரின்பமும் இந்த உலகிலேயே கிடைக்கும் என்கிறது பாடல்.

and a bliss beyond measure that never cloys, are both obtained in this very world, the verse says.
