14. காலச்சக்கரம்

நிலவு பூமியைச் சுற்றி வரும்போது, ஐந்து ஐந்து நாட்களாகச் சூரிய வட்டத்தை விட்டு விலகி வெளிச்சம் பெற்றுப் பௌர்ணமியாகும் விதமும்,

How the moon, circling the earth, moves away from the sun's disc five days at a time, gaining light until it becomes full,

பின் ஐந்து ஐந்து நாட்களாக மீண்டும் சூரிய வட்டத்தை நோக்கி வெளிச்சம் இழந்து அமாவாசையாகும் விதமும்,

and then, five days at a time, moves back toward the sun's disc, losing light until it becomes new,

பன்னிரண்டு இராசிகளில் ஒவ்வொன்றிலும் இரண்டரை நாட்கள் தங்கி அடுத்ததற்கு மாறும் விதமும், இவை அனைத்தும் இறைவனது திருவருளால் உயிர்களின் வினைக்கேற்பக் காத்தருளும் விதமும்,

how it dwells two and a half days in each of the twelve signs of the zodiac before passing to the next, and how, by God's own grace, all this protects living beings according to their deeds,

உடலைவிட்டு உயிர் பிரியும்போது அதை விட்டுப் பிரிந்து செல்லும் விதமும் ஆராய்ந்து அருளுகின்றேன்.

and how the life departs from the body when it leaves: all this I set forth here, having studied it.

முதல் நிலையில் ஐம்புலன்களால் பெறும் ஐந்து அறிவும், அதனுடன் நன்மை தீமை பகுக்கும் அறிவு சேர்ந்து பெறும் ஆறாம் அறிவும்,

The first is the five kinds of knowledge gained through the five senses; joined with the knowledge that discerns good from bad, the sixth is gained;

அதனுடன் மனம் சேர்ந்து பெறும் ஏழாம் அறிவும், அதனுடன் கல்வி சேர்ந்து பெறும் எட்டாம் அறிவும்,

joined further with the mind, the seventh is gained; joined further with learning, the eighth is gained;

அதனுடன் அனுபவம் சேர்ந்து பெறும் ஒன்பதாம் அறிவும், எல்லாம் இறையருளே என உணர்ந்து அவனது திருவடியைப் பற்றிக்கொண்டு பெறும் பத்தாம் அறிவும்,

joined further with experience, the ninth is gained; and realizing that all of this is by God's grace alone, and holding fast to his sacred feet, the tenth is gained;

ஆகிய இந்த ஆறு நிலை அறிவுகளையும் கொண்டு, அழியும் உடலைவிட்டு அழியாத ஞானத்தை அடைவது எப்படி என்பதை அறியாமலேயே பல உயிர்கள் பலவகை நாழிகைப் பொழுதுகளில் வீணாக அழிந்துபோகின்றன.

with these six stages of knowledge, many souls, across their many hours, perish uselessly, never knowing how to leave the perishable body and attain the imperishable wisdom.

உயிர்களின் வாழ்நாளில் அழியக்கூடிய நான்கு பகுதிகள் உள்ளன. முதலாவது, பயனின்றியே கழியும் பதின்மூன்று வயது வரையான குழந்தைப் பருவம்.

There are four perishable spans in the life of beings. The first is childhood, up to thirteen years, which passes without any use.

இரண்டாவது, பலராலும் பேசப்படும் அளவில் வாழ்ந்து முடியும் முப்பத்திமூன்று வயது வரையான இளமைப் பருவம்.

The second is youth, up to thirty three years, spoken of by many as the years one lives out.

மூன்றாவது, பலருக்கும் பயன்படும் வகையில் வாழ்ந்து முடியும் அறுபத்திரண்டு வயது வரையான முதிர்ந்த பருவம்.

The third is maturity, up to sixty two years, lived out in a way useful to many.

நான்காவது, முழுமையும் நிறைவும் அடைந்ததாகக் கருதப்படும் நூறு வயது வரையான முதுமைப் பருவம். எனினும், பதின்மூன்று வயதிலிருந்தே இறைவனை அடையும் வழிகளில் முயன்று உணர்ந்துவிட்டால், எண்ணிலடங்காத ஆண்டுகள் ஆனாலும் அழியாமல் இருக்கலாம்.

The fourth is old age, up to a hundred years, regarded as reaching full completeness. And yet, from the age of thirteen onward, if one strives in the ways that reach God and comes to realize him, one may remain without perishing, for years beyond number.

பிறந்த நாளின் நட்சத்திரத்தை அறிந்துகொண்டு,

Knowing the star of one's birth day,

அதிலிருந்து ஒரு நாள், இரண்டு நாள், எட்டு நாள், மூன்று நாள் என்று கூட்டி,

and adding one day, two days, eight days and three days from it,

வரும் நாட்களில் அமையும் நட்சத்திரங்களை அறிந்து,

knowing the stars that fall on the days so reached,

அந்த நாட்களில் யாதொரு தயக்கமும் இன்றி நுழையலாம்.

one may enter in on those days without any hesitation.

இவ்வாறு நட்சத்திரம் பார்த்துச் சாதனை தொடங்கும் சாதகர்கள்,

Practitioners who thus begin their practice by the star,

தம்முள் இருபத்தைந்து தத்துவங்களாக விளங்கும் இறைவனை அறிய விரும்பி, தம்மை அறிந்து மேலேறி,

wishing to know God who abides within them as the twenty five principles, come to know themselves and rise beyond,

தமக்கே உரிய ஆறு அடையாளங்களையும், வினையை உணர்த்தும் ஆறு வழிகளையும் கடந்து,

pass through the six signs proper to themselves and the six ways that make known their deeds,

விளக்கமாய் விளங்கும் நான்கு மேலான தத்துவங்களாக இறைவன் இருப்பதை உணர்வார்கள்.

and realize God as present in the four higher principles that shine forth clearly.

இறைவனை நான்கு உயர்ந்த தத்துவங்களாக உணர்ந்த யோகியர்கள், அந்த நிலையையும் தாண்டிச் சென்றபோதிலும்,

Yogis who have come to perceive God as the four supreme principles, even having gone beyond that state,

ஒன்பது துவாரங்களையும் கடந்து நிற்கும் ஒரே பொருள் இறைவனே என்பதை அறிந்துகொள்வதில்லை.

do not come to know that God is the one being who stands beyond the nine bodily openings

இருபத்தைந்து தத்துவங்களால் ஆன உருவத்தையும், அதைச் சுற்றியிருக்கும் ஐந்துவித கோசங்களையும் கடந்தவன் அவன்.

and the form built of the twenty-five principles, and the five-fold sheaths that surround it,

அண்டசராசரங்கள் அனைத்தையும் கடந்து நிற்பவனும் அவனே.

and the whole universe of moving and unmoving things.

நட்சத்திரம் பார்த்து, குருவின் வழிகாட்டுதலின்படி அகயோகப் பயிற்சியை முறையாக மேற்கொள்ளும் சாதகர்களுக்கு,

For practitioners who take up the practice of inner yoga properly, watching the stars, under a guru's guidance,

அப்பயிற்சியை அதற்குரிய படிநிலைகளில் தொடர்ந்து செய்யும்போது,

following this practice in its proper stages,

அப்பயிற்சிக்கு ஆகும் நாட்கள் கழிந்தபின்,

over the days this practice takes,

இருபத்தெட்டு நாட்களுக்குப் பின் அனைத்தையும் கடந்து நிற்கும் இறைவனை அறியலாம் என்று யோகத்தின் தலைவனாகிய இறைவனே விதித்து வைத்தான்.

God, the master of yoga, ordained that after twenty-eight days one may come to know the God who transcends everything.

இருபத்தெட்டு நாட்கள் முடிந்த பின், அனைத்தையும் கடந்து நிற்கும் இறைவனை அறிய முயலும் சாதகர்கள்,

After the twenty-eight days have passed, practitioners striving to know the God who transcends everything

தமக்குள் இருக்கும் முப்பத்தாறு தத்துவங்களையும் ஒன்றாகத் தொகுத்து,

gather together the thirty-six principles within them,

அந்நிலையைக் கடந்து பதினெட்டு அங்குலத்தில் தமது மூச்சுக்காற்றைப் பதித்து, முன்பே உணர்ந்த நான்கு உயர் தத்துவங்களிலேயே மனதைச் செலுத்தி,

fix their breath eighteen inches beyond that state, setting their mind upon the four supreme principles they had already realized,

அகயோகம் பயின்றால், ஐந்து சிவதத்துவங்களாக இருக்கும் இறைவன் ஒருவனே என்பதை அறிந்துகொள்ளலாம்.

and practice inner yoga; and so they may come to know that the God who exists as the five Shiva principles is the one and only Lord.

முன் பாடல்களில் சொல்லப்பட்ட அகயோகப் பயிற்சி முறைகளை, குருவின் மூலம் முறையாகக் கற்று, பகுத்தறிந்து, அதன்பின்னரே முயல வேண்டும்.

The practices of inner yoga given in the earlier verses must be learned properly through a guru, examined with discernment, and only then attempted.

குருவருள் இல்லாமல், முறையில்லாமல் செய்யும் யோகப் பயிற்சி நீண்ட காலம் நிலைத்தும் நிற்காது, இறையருளையும் தந்துவிடாது.

Yogic practice done without a guru's grace and without proper method neither stands firm for long nor brings God's grace.

குருவின் மூலம் முறையாகக் கற்றுக்கொண்டதை வேறு எவருக்கும் சொல்லாமல், பணிவோடு செய்து முடிக்க வேண்டும்.

What is properly learned through a guru must be completed with humility, without telling it to anyone else.

யாருக்கும் அறிவிக்காமல் பணிவோடு செய்ய வேண்டும் என்பதற்குக் காரணம், அப்படிச் செய்யாவிட்டால் இறையருள் கிடைக்காது என்பது ஒன்றே; வேறொன்றும் இல்லை.

The reason for practicing in humility, without proclaiming it, is only this: that without doing so God's grace will not come, and nothing else.

முறையாகச் செய்யும் அகயோகப் பயிற்சியால் சாதிக்கக்கூடியவற்றை அறியாமல், வேறு பல வழிகளில் அதைச் சாதிக்க முயல்பவர்கள்,

Those who do not know what can be accomplished through the properly performed practice of inner yoga, and strive to accomplish it by many other ways,

கையிலேயே அகல் விளக்கு இருந்தும் அதை அறியாமல் தீப்பந்தத்தைத் தேடி அலையும் மூடர்களைப் போன்றவரே.

are just like fools who wander searching for a firebrand while an oil lamp sits, unnoticed, in their own hand.

தமது உடலுக்குள்ளேயே தூங்கிக்கொண்டிருக்கும் நெருப்பை எழுப்பி, உள்ளே எடுத்துச் சென்று உச்சியில் இருக்கும் சுடரில் பொருத்தி, பெரிய விளக்காகப் பற்ற வைக்க வல்ல சாதகர்கள்,

Practitioners who can awaken a fire that lies sleeping within their own body, carry it within to the flame at the crown, and kindle it into a great lamp,

அஞ்ஞானம் எனும் இருளை அகற்றி உண்மை ஞானத்தை உணர்ந்து, காலம் சக்கரம் போல் ஓடிக்கொண்டே இருக்கும் இவ்வுலகில், எதனாலும் பாதிக்கப்படாமல் நெடுங்காலம் வாழும் வல்லமையைப் பெறுவார்கள்.

dispel the darkness called ignorance, realize true knowledge, and gain the power to live on for long ages, unaffected by anything, in this world where time runs on like a wheel.

கட்டைவிரலால் சுண்டுவிரலைப் பிடித்துக்கொண்டு மற்ற மூன்று விரல்களையும் நேராக நீட்டினால் உருவாகும் முத்திரையில், அம்மூன்று விரல்களும் வில்லில் ஏற்றிய அம்புகள் போலத் தோன்றும்.

In the gesture formed when the thumb holds the little finger and the other three fingers are held out straight, those three fingers appear like arrows fitted upon a bow.

அதைப் போலவே, மார்பிலுள்ள இதயத்தில் மூன்று வழிகளும் பின்னிப் பிணைந்து, பிரியாமல் ஒன்றாகச் சேர்ந்திருக்கின்றன.

In just the same way, three paths within the heart in the chest lie entwined together, joined and unparted.

அவற்றைத் தலையிலுள்ள மூன்று இடங்களோடும், மேலுள்ள மூன்று மண்டலங்களோடும் ஒன்றாகப் பொருந்தச் செய்து, எண்ணத்தை முழுதும் அதிலேயே வைத்து, காகிதத்தில் வரைந்த ஓவியம் போல அசைவின்றி நிலைபெற்றால்,

Uniting them with the three places in the head and with the three spheres above, and holding the mind wholly fixed there, unmoving like a picture drawn on paper,

உண்மை ஞானத்தை உணர்ந்து, உடல் அழியாத அழகிய ஓவியம் போல நீண்ட காலம் இளமையுடன் இருக்கும்.

one comes to realize true knowledge, and the body remains, like a beautiful, unperishing picture, youthful for a long time.

இந்த ஓவியம் போன்ற உணர்வுகளை அறிந்துகொள்ளுங்கள்.

Know these picture-like realizations.

ஒழுக்கத்திலிருந்து தவறிப் பாவத்திலேயே வாழுகின்ற உயிர்கள் இந்த யோகத்தின் பயன்களை அறிந்துகொள்வதில்லை.

Souls that stray from conduct and live only in sin do not know the benefits of this yoga.

தீவினையால் பிறந்த இந்த உடலுக்கு இருக்கும் அனைத்து வினைகளையும் நீக்கி, இப்பயிற்சியால் பிறவிச் சுழற்சியை அறுத்து, அடைய வேண்டிய அந்த நிலைக்குச் செல்ல,

For this body born of bad deeds, to remove every deed upon it and, through this practice, cut the cycle of rebirth and reach that state,

ஒரு பூவின் காம்பு போல, புண்ணியப் பாதை ஒன்று இருக்கின்றது.

there exists, like the stalk beneath a flower, a blessed path.

இந்த வழியில் சென்று, உச்சியில் இருக்கும் ஒளி உருவத்துடன் கலந்துவிடும் பயிற்சியைச் செய்த சாதகர்கள்,

Practitioners who have followed this path and merged with the light-form at the crown,

அதையும் தாண்டி மேலுள்ள மூன்று மண்டலங்களோடும் உணர்வு ஒடுங்கி இருந்தால், பேரின்பத்தில் திளைத்து, அந்த மண்டலங்களோடு கலந்து, நீண்ட காலம் அழியாமல் அழகுடன் இருப்பார்கள்.

and who, going beyond that, hold their awareness settled together with the three spheres above, revel in bliss and remain, mingled with those spheres, unperishing and beautiful for a long time.

இப்பயிற்சியால் முயன்று இந்நிலையை அடைந்தவர்கள் மட்டுமே அதைக் கண்டு உணர்கின்றார்கள்; தமது தீவினைப் பயனால் இப்பயிற்சியைப் பற்றி அறியாதவர்களோ, இதைச் செய்யாமல் வேறு வழிகளில் முயன்று தோல்வியடைந்தவர்களோ,

Only those who have striven through this practice and attained this state see and know it; others, through the fruit of their own bad deeds, do not know of this practice, or strive by other ways and fail,

தமது உடலை விட்டு உயிர் பிரிந்து, மீண்டும் மீண்டும் பிறக்கும் பிறவிச் சுழற்சியில் சிக்கிக்கொண்டு வருந்துகின்றார்கள்.

and have the life leave their body, remaining caught and suffering in the cycle of repeated birth.

பிறவிச் சுழற்சியில் சிக்கிக்கொண்டிருக்கும் நிலையில், இறைவனை அடைய உதவும் இந்தப் பிறவி எப்படி அழிந்து போகின்றது என்பதைக் கேளுங்கள்.

Hear how this life, given to help one reach God while caught in the cycle of rebirth, comes to be destroyed.

வினைகளைத் தீர்த்துக்கொண்டு தம்மை வந்து அடைய வேண்டும் என்பதற்காக இறைவன் கொடுத்த பிறவியை உயிர்கள் அவ்வாறு பயன்படுத்தாமல்,

If souls, instead of resolving their deeds and coming to reach him as this life was given for,

தமது ஆசைகளின் வழியிலேயே சென்று, மேலும் மேலும் வினைகளைச் சேர்த்துக்கொண்டே இருந்தால், இறைவனை உணர்ந்து அனைவரும் போற்றி வணங்கும் நிலை பெற வேண்டிய வாழ்க்கை சீர்குலைந்துவிடும்.

go instead after their own desires and gather more and more deeds upon themselves, the life meant to bring them to realize God and be honoured by all becomes ruined,

எந்த இலக்கும் இல்லாமல் திரியும் நாய்களைப் போலத் திரிந்து, இறந்து மீண்டும் மீண்டும் பிறந்து அழிகின்ற வாழ்க்கையாக அது மாறிவிடும்.

and turns into a life that wanders aimlessly like stray dogs with no direction, dying and being born again and again, perishing.

பிறவிச் சுழற்சியில் சிக்கிக்கொண்டு பிறந்துகொண்டே இருக்கின்ற உயிர்கள், தம்மோடு எப்போதும் துணையாக இருக்கும் இறைவனின் திருவடியைத் தாங்கிக்கொண்டிருக்கும் மலரைக் காண்பதில்லை.

Souls caught in the cycle of rebirth and born again and again do not see the flower that always bears up, as their support, the sacred feet of God who is with them.

இறந்த பிறகு நெருப்பில் இடப்படும் இந்த உடலை நிரந்தரம் என்று எண்ணாமல்,

Rather than thinking of this body, which is cast into fire after death, as permanent,

தமக்குள்ளேயே துணையாக இருக்கும் இறைவனே என்றும் நிரந்தரம் என்பதை உணர்ந்து, அவனது திருவடிகளைச் சென்று அடையும் வழியைக் கண்டுகொள்ள வேண்டும்.

one should realize that God, one's constant companion within, is the truly permanent one, and find the way to reach his sacred feet.

அவ்வழியைக் கண்டுகொண்டவர்கள், தலை உச்சியைத் தாண்டிய இடத்தில் திருநடனம் புரிந்துகொண்டிருக்கும் இறைவனைக் கண்டு உணர்ந்து, அவனோடு கலந்து பேரின்பத்தில் இருக்கலாம்.

Those who find that way come to see God performing his sacred dance beyond the crown of the head, and may remain mingled with him in bliss.

தலை உச்சியைத் தாண்டிய இடத்தில் திருநடனம் புரிந்துகொண்டிருக்கும் இறைவனைத் தரிசித்து, அதனால் தமக்குள் இறைத்தன்மைகள் பலவற்றைக் கண்டவர்கள்,

Those who behold God performing his sacred dance beyond the crown of the head, and who thereby see within themselves many godly qualities,

சாஸ்திரங்கள் கூறும் தர்மங்களையே தலையானதாகக் கொண்டு, அவற்றை விட்டுச் சிறிதும் விலகாமல் கடைபிடித்து நிற்பார்கள்.

hold the dharma declared by the scriptures as foremost, and stand by it without departing from it in the least.

தர்மம் தவறாமல் நின்று, தமக்குள்ளேயே இறைவனின் திருவடியையும் திருநடனத்தையும் தரிசித்து, அவனருளால் பெற்ற பேரின்பத்தை அனுபவிப்பவர்கள்,

Those who, never faltering from dharma, behold within themselves God's sacred feet and his dance, and enjoy the bliss they receive by his grace,

தாமே சிவமாகி, அவனைப் போலவே எங்கும் வியாபித்து இருப்பார்கள்.

themselves become Shiva and, just like him, pervade everywhere.

இறைவனோடு இரண்டறக் கலந்து தாமே சிவமாகி இருப்பவர்கள் அடையும், அளவில்லாத காலம் ஆயுள் வளர்ந்து அழியாமல் இருக்கும் முறையைக் கேளுங்கள்.

Hear the way by which those who have merged inseparably with God and themselves become Shiva come to have their lifespan grow boundlessly and remain undestroyed.

தமக்குள் இருக்கும் இறைவனை அடைய உதவும் மூன்று வழிகள் வழியாக, மூச்சுக்காற்றை உள்ளிழுத்து மேலேற்றிக் கீழிறக்கிச் சுழற்சி செய்து,

Circulating the breath, drawing it in, raising it and letting it descend, through the three paths that help one reach the God within,

அதைத் தொடர்ந்து செய்துகொண்டே இருந்தால், பல காலங்கள் உடல் அழியாமல் சென்றுகொண்டே இருக்கும்; முப்பது நாட்களுக்கு முறையாகச் செய்த பின்பு,

if this is done continually the body goes on for many ages without perishing; doing this properly for thirty days,

குன்றின்மேல் ஏற்றிவைத்த தீபம் போல, தலை உச்சியில் பொன்னிற ஜோதி உருவமாக இருக்கும் இறைவனே தாமாகி, ஒளிப் பிரகாசமாக எங்கும் பரவிக்கொண்டே இருப்பார்கள்.

then, like a lamp lit atop a hill, they themselves become the golden-light form of God enthroned at the crown of the head, remaining shining, spreading that light everywhere.

இறைவனோடு இரண்டறக் கலந்து தாமே சிவமாகிவிடும் வழிமுறையை அறிந்து, அதன்படியே தொடர்ந்து பயிலும் யோகியர், இறைவனின் ஒளி உருவத்தோடு கலந்து,

Yogis who, having known the method by which one merges inseparably with God and becomes Shiva, continue that practice and merge with the light-form of God,

அதையும் தாண்டி, எட்டுத் திசைகளும் பரவி விரியும்படி இறைவனின் ஒளி உருவத்தைத் தமக்குள் ஏற்றிவைத்து,

and, going beyond that, hold within them the light-form of God spreading out to fill all eight directions,

மேலுள்ள மூன்று மண்டலங்களில் மூன்றாவதில், பேரின்பத்தில் திளைத்து அதைத் தரிசித்துக்கொண்டே இருப்பவர்கள்,

in the third of the spheres above, reveling in bliss and continuing to behold it,

சாஸ்திரங்கள் கூறிய முழுமையான வயதான நூறு ஆண்டுகளையும் கடந்து நிற்பார்கள்.

they stand having crossed the full hundred years of age declared by the scriptures.

சாஸ்திரங்கள் கூறிய முழுமையான வயதான நூறு ஆண்டுகளையும் கடந்து நிற்பவர்கள்,

Those who stand having crossed the full hundred years of age declared by the scriptures

அதற்கு மேலும் ஆயிரம் ஆண்டுகளுக்கு உடல் கட்டுக்குலையாமல் இருப்பதைக் காண்பார்கள்.

see their body remain unbroken for a thousand years more.

இறைவனோடு கலந்து ஆயிரம் ஆண்டுகளுக்கு மேல் இருந்தவர்கள், பேரறிவால் முதிர்ந்து,

Those who remain merged with God for more than a thousand years mature in great wisdom,

கோடி ஆண்டுகளுக்கும் உடல் அழியாமல் இருந்து, பல யுகங்களையும் காண்பார்கள்.

and, their body unperishing for a crore of years, come to witness many ages.

கோடி யுகங்களைக் கண்ட யோகியர்கள், சிறிதும் தளர்வின்றித் தமது யோகத்திலேயே நிலைபெற்று நின்று,

Yogis who have witnessed a crore ages, standing established without the least faltering in their yoga,

தான் எனும் எண்ணம் இல்லாமல், இறைவனும் தாமும் வேறு இல்லை என்பதைக் காண்பார்கள்.

come to see, without the thought of self, that they and God are not different.

தமக்குள் உணர்ந்த சிவத்தின் ஒளி உருவத்தையும் கடந்து, உருவமும் குணமும் இல்லாத இறை நிலையை அடைந்து,

Going even beyond the light-form of Shiva realized within them, and attaining the state of God that has neither form nor quality,

பல கோடி யுகங்களையும் கண்டு, அனைத்திற்கும் மேலானதொரு நிலையை அடைவார்கள்.

they witness many crore ages, and attain a state that surpasses everything.

அனைத்திற்கும் மேலானதொரு நிலையை அடைந்த யோகியர்கள், உலகத்தவர்கள்மேல் கொண்ட கருணையினால்,

Yogis who have attained a state surpassing everything, out of the compassion they hold for the people of this world,

அவர்கள் அறியாமலேயே அவர்களோடு கலந்து நின்று, பல நல்வினைகளைப் புரிந்து அவர்களைப் பயன்பெற வைக்கின்றார்கள்.

unknown to those people, remain mingled with them and perform many good deeds so that they may benefit.

இந்த உயர்வான நிலையைப் பற்றித் தெரியாத, அல்லது அதில் விருப்பமில்லாதவர்கள், தமது கர்மவினைகளைச் செய்துகொண்டு வாழ்க்கையை வீணே கழிக்கின்றார்கள்.

Those who do not know of, or have no wish for, this exalted state, go on doing their own karmic deeds and waste their lives in vain,

மீன்களைப் போல் எப்போதும் கண்மூடாமல், அன்பர்களுக்கு அருள்கொடுக்கும் இறை சக்தியைக் காணாமலேயே காலத்தைக் கழித்து அழிந்து போகின்றார்கள்.

and, like fish that never close their eyes, pass their time without ever beholding the divine power that grants grace to its devotees, and perish.

இறை சக்தியைத் தமக்குள் கண்டு உணராதவர்கள், தமது வாழ்க்கையை வீணே கழித்து, மீண்டும் பிறக்கும்படி இறந்து போகின்றார்கள்.

Those who do not see and realize the divine power within themselves live out their lives in vain and die only to be born again.

இறை சக்தியை அடையும் வழியைக் கற்று அறிந்தவர்களும், அதன் பயனைப் பெறாமல், அதைப் பற்றிப் பலவிதமாகப் பேசுவதிலேயே காலத்தை நாணமின்றி வீணடிக்கின்றார்கள்.

Even those who have learned the way to that divine power, without gaining its benefit, pass their time speaking of it in many ways, wasting time shamelessly.

இறை சக்தியைத் தமக்குள் கண்டு உணராததால், தம்மை விட்டுப் போகின்ற அருட்செல்வங்கள் என்ன என்பதையும் இவர்கள் காண்பதில்லை.

Because they do not see and realize the divine power within themselves, they do not even see what graced treasures are passing them by,

அதைக் காணாமலேயே இவர்களின் காலம் வீணாகக் கழிந்துவிடுகின்றது.

and their time passes wastefully without their ever seeing it.

தம்மை விட்டுப் போகின்ற அருட்செல்வங்கள் என்ன என்பதைக் காண முடியாதவர்கள்,

Those who cannot see what graced treasures pass them by,

இறை சக்தியைத் தமக்குள் கண்டு உணராததால், தாம் பெரிதாக எண்ணியிருந்த உலகச் செல்வங்கள் அனைத்தும் தம் கண்முன்பே அழிந்து போவதைக் காண்கிறார்கள்.

for want of seeing and realizing the divine power within themselves, come to see all the worldly wealth they once held great perishing before their very eyes.

அழிகின்ற உடலுக்குள்ளும் அழிகின்ற செல்வத்துக்குள்ளும் என்ன இருக்கின்றது என்று ஆராய்ந்து பார்த்தால்,

If one examines what lies within the perishing body and within perishing wealth,

அழிகின்ற அனைத்துப் பொருட்களுக்குள்ளும் என்றும் அழியாத பெரும் செல்வமான இறைவன் இருப்பதை அறிந்துகொள்ள முடியும்.

one can come to know that within all things that perish there dwells the great, unperishing wealth that is God.

மூன்று கண்களையுடைய பிறப்பில்லாத இறைவன், தனது எண்ணங்கள் அனைத்திலும் அவனைக் காணக்கூடிய சாதகனுக்குள் குருவாய் அமர்ந்திருக்கின்றான்.

The unborn God, who has three eyes, seated as guru within the seeker who can see him in all his thoughts,

அனைத்திற்கும் ஒருவனாக இருப்பவன் அவனே.

is one alone amid everything,

எதிலும் உறுதியாக நிலைத்து இருப்பவனும் அவனே.

and stands firm and steady in everything,

அவனுடைய திருவடிகள், தமக்குள்ளேயே உறுதியுடன் தேடிச் சரணாகதியாய் இருப்பவர்களுக்கே கிடைக்கும்.

and his sacred feet are attained only by those who search firmly within themselves, in surrender.

தமக்குள் உறுதியுடன் இறைவனைத் தேடி அடையக்கூடியவர்களுக்கு இறப்பு இல்லை.

Those who can search within themselves with firmness and reach God have no death.

இவ்வுலகத்தில் எந்தக் குறையும் இன்றி உயிர்களுக்குத் தலைவனாக இருப்பார்கள்.

They stand as lord among living beings in this world, without any lack.

இறைவனைத் தமக்குள்ளே தேடி அடைந்தவர்களுக்குத் தெரிந்த பொருள் இதுவாகும்.

This is what is known to those who have searched within themselves and reached God.

இறைவனை அடையும் வழியைக் காட்டும்படி கேட்பவர்களில் தகுதியுள்ளவர்களுக்குத் தாம் அறிந்ததை எடுத்துக் கூறுவார்கள்.

To those among the seekers who ask to be shown the way, and who are worthy, they will speak of what they know.

தம்மை நாடி வருபவர்களில் தகுதியுள்ளவர்களுக்குக் கூறும் பொருள், ஓங்கார மந்திரத்தின் அகார உகார விளக்கமாகும்.

What is taught to those, among the seekers who come to him, who are worthy, is the explanation of the letters akara and ukara within the mantra Om.

அகார உகார மகார எழுத்துக்கள் சேர்ந்ததே ஓம் எனும் மந்திரம்; அதில் அகாரம் சிவத்தையும், உகாரம் சக்தியையும், மகாரம் உயிரையும் குறிக்கும்.

The letters akara, ukara and makara joined together form the mantra Om, in which akara denotes Shiva, ukara denotes Shakti, and makara denotes the soul.

குரு கூறிய இந்த மந்திரத்தைத் தமது சிந்தனையுள் எப்போதும் நினைத்துக்கொண்டே இருக்கும் சாதகர்கள்,

For practitioners who hold this mantra, as taught by their guru, always in their thought,

தமக்குள் இருக்கும் ஆறு இடங்களிலும் சக்திமயமாக அமர்ந்திருக்கும் இறைசக்தியும் தாமே என்பதை உணர்ந்துகொள்வார்கள்.

they come to realize that the divine power seated, filled with power, in the six places within them, is themselves as well.

இறைவன் இருக்கின்ற இடத்தை யாரும் அறிவதில்லை.

No one knows the place where God dwells.

இறைவனை அறிந்தவர் மூலம் கேட்டு, தமக்குள் ஆராய்ந்து உறுதியுடன் தேடினால், இறைவன் தமக்குள்ளேயே வீற்றிருப்பதை அறிந்துகொள்ளலாம்.

If, hearing from one who knows God, one examines within oneself and searches with firmness, one may come to know that God dwells within oneself.

அதை அறிந்துகொண்டவர்களுக்கு, இறைவன் பேரறிவாய் நின்று, அவர்களுக்குள்ளேயே அழியாமல் அமர்ந்திருப்பான்.

For those who have come to know this, God stands as great wisdom and remains seated, unperishing, within them.

பேரறிவாய் அமர்ந்திருக்கும் இந்த இறைவனையே எப்போதும் தரிசித்துக்கொண்டு இருப்பவர்கள், தாமும் அந்த இறைவனாகவே ஆகிவிடுவார்கள்.

Those who always behold this God, seated as great wisdom, themselves come to become that very God.

தாமும் இறைவனாகவே ஆகிவிடும் அந்தப் பெரும் பயனை அறிந்துகொண்டவர்கள் யாரும் இல்லை; அதைப் பற்றிக் கேளுங்கள்.

There is no one who has known the great benefit of becoming God oneself; hear of it.

ஓங்கார மந்திரத்தில் அகாரம் எனும் ஒலியாக இருப்பவன் சிவம்; உகாரம் எனும் ஒளியாக இருப்பவள் சக்தி; மகாரம் எனும் உயிராக இருப்பது ஆன்மாக்கள்.

In the mantra Om, the one who is the sound called akara is Shiva; she who is the light called ukara is Shakti; and that which is the life called makara is the soul.

உயிர்களின் உள் இருக்கும் இடங்களில் சக்திமயமாகவும் ஒளியாகவும் ஒலியாகவும் இருக்கின்ற இறைவனே பிரணவ மந்திரத்திலுள்ள மூன்று எழுத்துக்களின் தத்துவம் என்பதை உணர்ந்து,

Realizing that the God present within the places inside every living being, as power, as light and as sound, is the very meaning of the three letters within the pranava mantra,

அந்த இடங்களோடு தமது உயிர்சக்தியைக் கலந்து நிற்பவனே இறைவனாக ஆகிவிடுகின்றான்.

and uniting one's own life-force with those places, one becomes God.

உடலுக்குள்ளேயே தாமரை மலர்கள் போல மலர்ந்திருக்கும் ஏழு இடங்களோடு தமது உயிர்சக்தியைச் சேர்த்து வைக்கும் வழிமுறையை உயிர்கள் அறிந்துகொள்வதில்லை.

Souls do not know the way to unite their own life-force with the seven places, blossoming like lotus flowers, within the body,

தலை உச்சியைத் தாண்டிய நிலையிலும் இருக்கின்ற சக்திமயங்களே இறைவன்; அந்நிலையோடு சேர்த்து வைக்கும் வழியையும் அவை அறிவதில்லை.

and with the state beyond the crown of the head, where the power-filled forms of God reside.

அந்த வழிமுறையைக் குருவானவர் மூலம் அறிந்து, தமக்குள் இருக்கும் இறைசக்தியோடு ஒன்றாகக் கூடியிருந்து உணர்ந்துவிட்டால்,

If that way is learned through a guru, and one comes to be united within with the divine power there and to realize it,

கருப்பங்கட்டி போல் இனிக்கின்ற அமிர்தமான இறைவனைக் கண்டுகொள்ளலாம்.

one may find God, sweet as jaggery, the nectar he is.

தமக்குள் இறைவனை உணர்ந்து கண்டுகொண்ட யோகியர்கள், அந்த இறைவனே படைக்கின்ற பிரம்மனாகவும், காக்கின்ற திருமாலாகவும் இருப்பதைக் கண்டுகொள்வார்கள்.

Yogis who have realized and beheld God within themselves come to see that this same God is Brahma who creates and Tirumal who protects,

கருநீலக் கறையுடைய தொண்டையைக் கொண்டு மாயையை அழிக்கின்ற உருத்திரனாகவும் அவனே இருக்கின்றான்.

Rudra, with a throat stained dark blue, who destroys illusion,

மாயையால் மறைக்கின்ற மகேசுவரனாகவும், அருளுகின்ற சதாசிவனாகவும் அவனே இருக்கின்றான்.

Maheshwara who conceals through illusion and Sadashiva who graces,

உயிர்களின் உடலோடு கலந்து நிற்கின்ற சக்திமயங்களாகவும் அவனே இருக்கின்றான்.

present as forms filled with power, mingled with the bodies of every living being.
