நீல நிற தேகத்தை உடைய உமா மகேஸ்வரியைத் தன் இடப்பாகத்தில் கொண்டவன் இறைவன்.

God holds Uma Mahesvari, dark blue in form, on his left side.

இருபத்தெட்டு அரிய ஆகமங்களை அவன் அருளினான்.

He graciously gave the twenty-eight rare Agamas.

தன்னைக் கைகூப்பி வேண்டிய அறுபத்தாறு யோகபுருஷர்களுக்கு அவற்றை மொழிந்தான்.

He spoke them to the sixty-six yogapurushas who stood with joined palms and asked him for them.

தனது மேல்நோக்கிய ஐந்தாவது முகமான ஈசான முகத்திலிருந்தே அவர்கள் அந்த அரும்பொருளைக் கேட்டனர். இருபத்தெட்டு ஆகமங்களும் ஒவ்வொன்றைக் கேட்ட யோகபுருஷர்களும் மேலே பட்டியலிடப்பட்டுள்ளன.

They heard that rare meaning from his fifth face, turned upward, called Isana. All twenty-eight Agamas and the yogapurushas who received each one are listed above.

சதாசிவமூர்த்தி உயிர்கள் உய்யும் பொருட்டு அருளிய சிவாகமங்கள் இவை.

These are the Sivagamas that Sadasivamurthy graciously gave for the salvation of living beings.

அவற்றை எண்ணினால் அவை இருபத்தெட்டு கோடியே நூறாயிரம்.

If one counts them, they number twenty-eight crore and one hundred thousand.

இவற்றையே விண்ணில் இருக்கும் தேவர்களும் சிவபெருமானின் சிறப்புகளாகக் கூறினார்கள்.

The very gods in the heavens themselves spoke of these as Sivaperuman's own glories.

அவற்றையே நானும் சிந்தித்து நின்று, அவற்றின் பொருளைப் புகழ்ந்து பாடிப் பரப்புகின்றேன்.

I too dwell on them in my thoughts, and go on singing and spreading their meaning in praise.

இறைவனை அடைய ஆகமங்கள் கூறும் பதினெட்டு நிலைகளையும்,

The eighteen stages that the Agamas set out for reaching God,

அவற்றின் உண்மைப் பொருளையும் உணர்ந்தவர்களே பண்டிதர்கள் ஆவார்கள்.

only those who have grasped these along with their true meaning are true scholars.

இந்தப் பதினெட்டு நிலைகளும், அரன் எனும் பெயரால் அறியப்படுபவனும் உலகங்கள் அனைத்திற்கும் முதல்வனுமான இறைவன் கூறியவையாகும்.

These eighteen stages are what God himself, known by the name Aran, the primal source of all the worlds, spoke.

இறைவன் கூறியவற்றை அவன் கூறியபடியே விளக்குபவர்களே உண்மையான பண்டிதர்கள் ஆவார்கள்.

Only those who explain what God said exactly as he said it are true scholars.

உயிர்கள் தன்னை அடைய இறைவன் அருளிய திவ்யமான ஆகமங்கள் இவை.

These are the divine Agamas that God graciously gave for beings to reach him.

விண்ணகத்தில் இருக்கும் அமரர்க்கும் இவற்றின் பொருள் விளங்குவது அரிது.

Even for the immortals in the heavens, grasping their meaning is difficult.

மொத்தமுள்ள ஆகமங்களை எண்ணினால் அவை எழுபது கோடி நூறாயிரம்.

If one counts all the Agamas together, they number seventy crore and one hundred thousand.

இத்தனை கோடி ஆகமங்களை எண்ணிக்கொண்டிருந்தாலும், நீர்மேல் எழுதிய எழுத்தைப் படிக்க முடியாதது போலவே, அவற்றின் பொருளை உணரமுடியாமல் போய்விடும்.

And even after counting that many crores of Agamas, understanding their meaning becomes as impossible as reading letters written upon water.

பரமாகிய சிவமும், பராவாகிய சக்தியும் சேர்ந்து, அனைத்திற்கும் மேலான பராபரமாகிய சதாசிவமூர்த்தி,

Sivam, who is Param, joined with Sakthi, who is Para, becoming Parapara, the one above all, Sadasivamurthy,

உலகின் தலைவனாய் நின்று, எல்லா உயிர்களும் இறைவனை அடையும் பொருட்டு ஆகமங்களை அருளிய நேரத்தில்,

standing as lord of the world, at the time he graciously gave the Agamas so that every living being could reach him,

அமரர்களுக்குக் குருவாய் நிற்கும் இறைவனை 'அரன்' என்று அவர்கள் அர்ச்சித்தனர்.

the immortals worshipped God, who stood as their guru, under the name Aran.

ஆகமங்கள் கூறும் ஞானத்தின் மொத்த அறிவு உருவமாக அவன் உயர்ந்து நின்றான்.

He rose up as the very embodiment of the whole knowledge that the Agamas declare.

பரமாகிய சிவமும், பராவாகிய சக்தியும் சேர்ந்து சதாசிவம் எனும் மாபெரும் பரம்பொருளாக விளங்கினர்.

Sivam, who is Param, joined with Sakthi, who is Para, and shone forth as Sadasivam, the great supreme reality.

அந்தப் பரம்பொருளிடமிருந்து மகேசுவரன், ருத்திரன் ஆகியோர் ஆகமங்களைப் பெற்றனர்.

Mahesvara and Rudra received Agamas from that supreme reality.

திருமால், பிரமன், ஈசுவரன் ஆகியோரும் பெற்றனர்; இவ்வாறு ஐவரும் பெற்றது மொத்தம் ஒன்பது ஆகமங்கள்.

Thirumal, Brahma and Ishvara received them too; these five together received nine Agamas in all.

அந்த ஒன்பது ஆகமங்களையும் எங்கள் குருவான நந்தி பெற்று எமக்கு அருளினான்.

Those same nine Agamas were received by Nandi, our own guru, who graciously gave them to us.

நந்தியிடமிருந்து பெற்ற நல் ஆகமங்களில் முதல் இரண்டு- காரணமும் காமிகமும்.

Of the good Agamas received from Nandi, the first two are Karanam and Kamikam.

அடுத்தவை வீரமும், உயர்வான சித்தமும், வாதுளமும்.

Next are Veeram, the exalted Chitham, and Vathulam.

பின்னர் யாமளமும், காலோத்தரமும்.

Then Yamalam and Kaloththaram.

இறுதியாக நிறைவுடைய சுப்பிரமும், மகுடமும் ஆகிய ஒன்பது ஆகமங்கள் இவை.

And finally Suppiram and Makudam, these nine Agamas.

உயிர்கள் தன்னை அடைய இறைவன் அருளிய சிவாகமங்களைத் தொகுத்தால், அவை பல கோடிகளாக இருக்கும்.

If one were to gather together all the Sivagamas that God graciously gave for beings to reach him, they would come to many crores.

இருப்பினும், இறைவனை எண்ணி அவனருள் வேண்டி, அவன் கொடுக்கும் ஞானத்தை வைத்தே அவற்றை அறிந்துகொள்ள முடியும்.

And yet they can only be understood through the wisdom God himself grants, when sought with a mind fixed on him and a longing for his grace.

அவ்வாறு இறைவன் கொடுத்த ஞானத்தைக் கொண்டு ஆகமத்தை உணராமல், வெறும் வார்த்தைகளைக் கொண்டு பொருள் புரியாமல் ஓதினால்,

If, instead, one recites them as mere words, without understanding their meaning through the wisdom God gives,

அந்த எண்ணமுடியாத கோடிகள் அனைத்தும் நீர்மேல் எழுதிய எழுத்துக்கள் போல யாருக்கும் பயனில்லாமலேயே இருந்துவிடும்.

then all those uncountable crores become as useless to anyone as letters written upon water.

மழைக்காலம், கோடைக்காலம், பனி பெய்யும் குளிர்காலம் என எல்லாக் காலமும் ஏரிகளெல்லாம் நீர் வற்றும்.

Through the rainy season, the summer, and the season of falling frost, in every season, the lakes run dry.

அனைத்தும் யுகங்களின் முடிவான ஊழிக்காலத்தில் அழியும்.

And in the end, at the great dissolution that closes the ages, everything perishes.

ஆரிய மொழியாகிய சமஸ்கிருதத்திலும் தமிழிலும் வேதங்களையும் ஆகமங்களையும்,

In both Sanskrit, the Aryan tongue, and in Tamil, the Vedas and the Agamas,

புதுயுகத்தில் பிறக்கும் உயிர்களின் தாயான உமாதேவிக்கு உடனே வழங்கி, இறைவன் மாபெரும் கருணை செய்தான்.

God gave at once to Uma Devi, mother of the beings to be born in the new age, so that they could reach him, showing his great compassion.

மும்மலங்கள் உயிர்களைவிட்டு விலகுகின்ற முறையையும், அவை உயிர்களைக் கட்டிப்போடும் முறையையும் ஆகமங்கள் கூறுகின்றன.

The Agamas speak of how the three malams loosen their hold on beings, and of how they bind beings.

பந்தபாசத்தால் பிறந்த இவ்வுடலைவிட்டு உயிர் பிரிந்து போகும் முறையையும் இன்னும் பலவற்றையும் ஆகமங்கள் கூறுகின்றன.

They also speak of how the soul departs from this body born of worldly bondage, and much more besides.

தமிழ் மொழியிலும் சமஸ்கிருத மொழியிலும் ஆகமங்கள் இவற்றைக் கூறி உணர்த்துகின்றன.

In both Tamil and Sanskrit, the Agamas declare and make known these very things.

இறைவன் வழங்கிய ஆகமங்களை அவன் அருளாலேயே ஞானம் பெற்று உணர வேண்டும்.

The Agamas that God gave can only be understood by receiving wisdom through his own grace.
