பரமாகிய சிவமும், பராவாகிய சக்தியும் சேர்ந்து சதாசிவம் எனும் மாபெரும் பரம்பொருளாக விளங்கினர். அந்தப் பரம்பொருளிடமிருந்து மகேசுவரன், ருத்திரன் ஆகியோர் ஆகமங்களைப் பெற்றனர். திருமால், பிரமன், ஈசுவரன் ஆகியோரும் பெற்றனர்; இவ்வாறு ஐவரும் பெற்றது மொத்தம் ஒன்பது ஆகமங்கள். அந்த ஒன்பது ஆகமங்களையும் எங்கள் குருவான நந்தி பெற்று எமக்கு அருளினான்.
Sivam, who is Param, joined with Sakthi, who is Para, and shone forth as Sadasivam, the great supreme reality. Mahesvara and Rudra received Agamas from that supreme reality. Thirumal, Brahma and Ishvara received them too; these five together received nine Agamas in all. Those same nine Agamas were received by Nandi, our own guru, who graciously gave them to us.
