21. சிவ நிந்தை

தெளிந்த ஞானம் உள்ளவர்கள் சிந்தனை செய்து,

Those who possess clear wisdom reflect,

தமக்குள்ளே இருக்கும் தேவர்களுக்கெல்லாம் தலைவனாகிய சிவபெருமானை உணர்ந்து அவருடைய அருளைப் பெறுவார்கள்.

and come to realize Shiva, lord of all the gods, who dwells within themselves, and obtain his grace.

தெளிந்த ஞானமில்லாத கீழான மக்கள் அச்சிவபெருமானைச் சிறுதெய்வமாக எண்ணி இகழ்ந்து புறக்கணித்தால்,

If people of low mind, without clear wisdom, think of Shiva as a lesser deity and scorn and reject him,

அவர்களின் நிலை பூனையால் கிழிக்கப்பட்ட கிளிபோல ஆகும்.

their state will become like a parrot torn apart by a cat.

ஆசையால் அனுபவித்து வாடிப்போன தேகத்தை உடையவர்களும் தேவர்களும் அசுரர்களும்,

Those whose bodies have withered from indulging desire, and gods and asuras alike,

உண்மை ஞானத்தை உணரவில்லையென்றால் இறந்தவர்களைப் போலானவர்களே.

are as good as dead if they do not realize true wisdom.

அன்பினால் கசிந்து அமுதம்போல் சுரக்கும் ஆதியாகிய சிவபெருமானைத் தன் உள்ளக் கோவிலில் வைத்து,

It is only those who install the primal Shiva, who melts with love and flows like nectar, within the temple of their own heart,

அப்படி வழிபடுபவர்களால் மட்டுமே உண்மையான ஞானத்தைப் பெற இயலும்.

and worship him there, who can attain true wisdom.

அறியாமையால் வரும் அகங்காரத்தினால் தேவர்களும் அசுரர்களும் சிவபெருமானுடன் பகைமை கொண்டனர்.

Through the pride born of ignorance, gods and asuras alike took up enmity toward Shiva.

அப்பகையால் அவர்கள் விரைவில் அழிந்துபோனார்கள்.

Through that enmity they were quickly destroyed.

சிவபெருமானுடன் எந்த வகையான பகைமை கொண்டாலும் அவரை அடைய முடியாது.

No matter what kind of enmity one holds toward Shiva, he cannot be reached through it.

அது பொய்யான பகையாக இருந்தாலும் அதனால் வரும் தீமை ஒன்றுக்குப் பத்து மடங்காகப் பெருகி அழிக்கும்.

Even if that enmity is feigned, the harm that comes of it grows tenfold and destroys.

மாதருடன் கூடியும் ஊடியும் அச்சிறிய இன்பத்தையே நினைத்து,

Those who unite and quarrel with women, thinking only of that small pleasure,

அந்த வேட்கையை உள்ளத்தில் வைத்திருப்பவர்கள்,

and hold that longing in their heart,

வேதம் கற்று அறிந்த வேதியர்களாக இருந்தாலும்,

even if they are brahmins learned in the Vedas,

தாமே இன்னொரு உயிரை உருவாக்குகின்றோம் என்கிற தவறான எண்ணத்தில் சிவபெருமானைப் பற்றிய எண்ணங்களை மறந்துவிடுவார்கள்.

will forget their thoughts of Shiva in the false notion that they themselves create another life.
