உணர்வினால் அறியப்பட வேண்டிய இறைவனையும், அவனை அறியும் ஞானத்தையும், உயிருக்குள் ஆன்மாவாக இருக்கும் இறைவனையும், அந்த ஆன்மாவை அறியவிடாமல் தடுக்கும் மாயையையும், அந்த மாயையை ஆளும் சிவத்தையும், இந்தச் சிவத்திலிருந்து வரும் சக்தியையும், சிவமும் சக்தியும் சேர்ந்த சதாசிவமூர்த்தியையும் தனக்குள்ளே உணர்ந்து, இறைவனை அடையும் வழிகளான ஓலி ஓளி தத்துவங்கள் அனைத்தையும் விளக்கி, யாம் வழங்கியதே இந்தத் திருமந்திர மாலை.
The God who must be known through inner awareness, the wisdom that grants the knowledge to know him, and God as the soul present within every being, the maya that stops that soul from knowing him, Sivam who rules that maya, and the Sakthi that comes forth from that Sivam, and realising within myself Sadasivamurthy, in whom Sivam and Sakthi are joined together, and explaining fully the tattvas of sound and light that are the ways to reach God, I gave this garland of verses, the Thirumantiram.
