வேதங்களை ஓதுபவர்கள் அனைவரும் வேதியர்கள் ஆகிவிட மாட்டார்கள். வேதங்களின் அர்த்தங்களை உணர்ந்து அதன்படி நடப்பவர்களே உண்மையான வேதியர்கள் ஆவார்கள். இறைவன் வேதங்களை வழங்கியது, உயிர்கள் அறங்களைத் தெரிந்துகொண்டு அதன்படி நடப்பதற்காகவும், உண்மைப் பொருளான இறைவனை உணர்ந்து, மெய்ப்பொருளான இறைவனை அடைவதற்காகவுமே.
Not everyone who recites the Vedas becomes a true Vedic scholar. Only those who grasp the meaning of the Vedas and live by it are true Vedic scholars. God gave the Vedas so that living beings would come to know dharma and live by it, and so that they would understand him as the true reality and finally reach him, the ultimate reality itself.
