நெற்றிக் கண்ணுடைய சிவபெருமான் என்றும் மாறாத ஒரு தன்மையில், அழிவின்றி நிலைத்து நிற்கவும், எண்ணற்ற தேவர்கள் இறந்தனர் என்று பலர் புராணங்களில் கூறுகின்றனர். ஆனாலும் மண்ணில் வாழ்வோரும் வானில் வாழ்வோரும், அவன் சிவபெருமானே முதல்வன் என்று அறிந்துகொள்ள இயலாதவர்களாய் உள்ளனர்.
Sivaperuman, who bears the eye upon his forehead, remains forever established in one unchanging, imperishable nature, even as many puranas tell of countless devas who perished. Yet those who dwell on earth and those who dwell in the heavens remain unable to recognise that he, Sivaperuman, is the Supreme, the first cause.
