  விமானம் என்று அழைக்கப்படுகின்ற இலிங்கத்தின் மேல் பகுதியாகிய பாணமானது, தீயவற்றை அழித்து உலகிற்கு நன்மையைத் தருகின்ற தூல வடிவமே ஆகி, பிரபஞ்சமாகிப் பிரபஞ்சத்தோடு தொடர்பு கொண்டு இருக்கின்றது.

  The upper part of the lingam, the banam, which is called the vimanam, is the gross form that destroys evil things and gives good to the world, and it has become the universe and stands in contact with the universe.

  ஆதலால், இலிங்கத்தின் அடிப் பகுதியாக இருக்கின்ற ஆவுடையார், பரம்பொருளாகிய சிவபெருமானின் பிரபஞ்ச சக்தியாக, உலகத்திற்கு நன்மையைக் கொடுக்கின்ற நுண்ணிய வடிவமாக இருக்கின்றது.
