  உலகப் பற்றுக்களிலேயே நிலைபெற்று இருக்கின்ற மலங்களாகிய ஐந்து புலன்களையும் மாற்றுகின்ற வழிமுறையை ஆராய்ந்து அறிந்துகொள்ளாதவன்,

  One who does not search out and learn the discipline that turns the five senses, which are impurities settled firmly in worldly attachment,

  தன்னைப் பொருந்தி இருக்கின்ற காமம் முதலாகிய ஆசைகளில் தோய்ந்திருக்கின்ற செயல்களை விட்டு நீங்காமல் இருக்கின்றவன்,

  one who does not leave off the deeds steeped in desire beginning with lust, desires that cling close to him,

  ஒன்றன் பின் ஒன்றாகப் பின்னிக்கொண்டே இருக்கின்ற பொய்களைக் கூறுபவன், மீண்டும் மீண்டும் வருகின்ற பிறவிகளுக்கோ இறப்பிற்கோ அஞ்சாமல் இருக்கின்றவன்,

  one who tells lies braided one after another without end, one who does not fear the births that come again and again nor the deaths that come again and again,

  ஆகிய தன்மைகளைக் கொண்டவன் குருவுக்கு நெருக்கம் இல்லாதவனாகி, உண்மையில்லாத சீடனாகவே இருப்பான்.

  whoever bears these traits becomes a man with no closeness to the guru, and stays a disciple who is not true.
