  பூணூலுக்கும் குடுமிக்கும் உள்ள உட்பொருளை உணராதவர்கள் முழு மூடர்களாக இருக்கின்றார்கள்.

  Those who do not realize the inner meaning of the sacred thread and the tuft are utter fools.

  பூணூல் என்பது வேதத்தை முழுவதும் அறிந்து உணர்ந்ததைக் குறிப்பதாகும்; தலை உச்சியில் இருக்கும் குடுமி என்பது உண்மை ஞானத்தை உணர்ந்ததைக் குறிப்பதாகும்.

  The sacred thread stands for having learned and realized the whole of the Veda, and the tuft at the crown of the head stands for having realized true wisdom.

  வேதப் பொருளாகிய இறைவனை உணர்ந்து அவனோடு ஒன்றி இருக்கின்ற அந்தணர்களே, பரம்பொருளாகிய இறைவனே தமது உயிராகவும் இருப்பதைத் தமக்குள் பார்க்கின்றார்கள்.

  It is the brahmins who have realized God, the meaning of the Veda, and have become one with him, who see within themselves that the supreme being who is God is also their own life.

  ஒன்றுபட்டு இருக்கின்ற இறைவனும் ஆன்மாவும் ஆகிய இரண்டும் ஒரே பொருளே என்பதை, ஓங்காரத்தை ஓதியே அவர்கள் உணர்ந்தார்கள்.

  That God and soul, the two that stand united, are one and the same reality is what they realized, and they realized it by chanting the Omkara.
