  உண்மையான தவசிகளைப் போல நடிக்கின்ற பொய்யான தவத்தைச் செய்பவர்கள், இறந்த பிறகு நரகத்திற்கே சென்று அடைவார்கள்.

  Those who perform a false austerity, acting as though they were true ascetics, go after death and reach hell itself.

  பொய்யான தவத்தைச் செய்தவர்கள் பாவத்தை மட்டுமே சேர்த்துக் கொள்வதால், புண்ணியம் பெற்றவர்களாக ஆக மாட்டார்கள்.

  Those who performed a false austerity gather only sin, and so will not become people of merit.

  ஆனால், பொய்யான தவமாக இருந்தாலும் உண்மையான தவமாக இருந்தாலும், உலகத்தில் வினைகளைக் கொடுக்கின்ற ஆசைகளைத் தமக்குள்ளிருந்து நீக்கிவிட வேண்டும்.

  But whether the austerity be a false one or a true one, the desires that in the world give rise to deeds must be removed from within oneself.

  அதன் பயனால் கிடைக்கின்ற உண்மையான ஞானத்தால் உறுதியாகத் தாங்கப்பட்டு இருப்பதே உண்மையான தவங்கள் ஆகும்.

  To stand firmly upheld by the true wisdom that comes as the fruit of that removing is what true austerities are.
