  உண்மையான ஞானம் இல்லாதவர்கள், தவசிகள் போல வேடம் அணிந்துகொண்டு, அவர்கள் இருக்கின்ற நாட்டிற்கு நடுவிலேயே திரிந்துகொண்டு,

  Those who have no true wisdom put on the guise of ascetics and wander about in the very midst of the land they live in,

  இழிவான செயல்களையே செய்துகொண்டு, மற்றவர்களிடம் பிச்சை எடுத்து உணவு சாப்பிட்டுக்கொண்டு இருந்தாலும்,

  and even though they do only base deeds and live on food begged from others,

  அவர்களின் செயலால் அந்த நாட்டிற்கு அவமானமும் நன்மைக் கேடும் உண்டாகும்; அவர்கள் இருக்கின்ற நாடு இந்தப் பூமியில் இருப்பதால், உலகம் அனைத்திற்குமே கேடு நடக்கும்.

  by what they do shame and the ruin of good come upon that land; and because the land they are in stands on this earth, ruin comes upon the whole world as well.

  ஆகவே, இழிவான அவர்களின் வேடத்தை நீக்கி, அவர்களை உண்மையை உணரச் செய்து, அதன் பயனால் உலகம் இன்பம் அடையும்படிச் செய்வது, உண்மை ஞானிகளின் கடமையாகும்.

  And so to remove their base guise, to make them realize the truth, and by that to bring the world to happiness, is the duty of those who are truly wise.
