  ஆற்றில் அசையாமல் கிடக்கும் முதலையைக் கண்டு பயந்து போய்,

  Seeing a crocodile lying motionless in the river and fleeing from it in fear,

  குட்டிகளை ஈன்ற கரடியின் எதிரில் சென்று அகப்பட்டுக்கொண்டதை ஒத்திருக்கின்றது.

  it is like walking up in front of a bear that has given birth to cubs and being caught by it.

  இறைவனை அடைய வேண்டும் என்று முறைப்படித் தவம் செய்யாமல் இருக்கின்றார்கள்; ஏனெனில், அதற்கென்று அருளப்பட்டிருக்கும் ஆகமங்களைப் படித்து அறியாதவர்களாக இருக்கின்றார்கள்.

  They do not do austerity in the proper way with the aim of reaching God, because they have not read and learned the agamas that were granted for that very purpose.

  காட்டிற்குச் சென்று தவம் செய்கின்றேன் என்று சொல்லிக்கொண்டு, தினந்தோறும் பசிக்கு உணவு வேண்டி நின்று காட்டைச் சுற்றி வருகின்றார்கள்.

  Saying that they are going to the forest to do austerity, they stand each day begging food for their hunger and go round and round the forest.
