  தங்களால் இயன்றவரை தீபங்களை ஏற்றிவைத்தல், நறுமணமிக்க மலர்ந்த மலர்களைக் கொய்து சாற்றுதல்,

  Lighting lamps to the best of one's ability, and gathering fragrant, blossomed flowers and offering them,

  இறைவன் இருக்கின்ற இடங்களைச் சாணி பூசி மெழுகி அந்த இடத்தைச் சுத்தமாக வைத்தல், இறைவனின் புகழ்களைப் பாடி வாழ்த்துதல்,

  plastering and smoothing the places where God dwells with cow-dung and keeping those places clean, and singing and praising God's glory,

  இறைவன் அமர்ந்துவருகின்ற பல்லக்குக்குச் சேவை செய்வதற்குப் பல்லக்கின் கழிகளைப் பற்றிக்கொண்டு வலம்வருதல், பல வகையான அபிஷேகப் பொருட்களைக்கொண்டு அபிஷேகம் செய்தல் முதலான,

  holding the poles of the palanquin in which God is carried and circling it in service, performing abhisheka with various sacred substances, and so on,

  கோயில்களுக்குத் தேவையான தொண்டுகளில் தங்களால் இயன்ற அளவு செய்து பணிபுரிவது தான், இறைவனை எஜமானராகவும் தம்மை அடியவராகவும் பாவிக்கின்ற வழிமுறையாகும்.

  rendering to temples, to the best of one's ability, whatever service they require: this itself is the discipline of taking God as master and oneself as his servant.
