  சிவன் முதலாக மூவரும், சிறந்த ஐவரும்;

  Siva first, with the three, and the distinguished five;

• வரி 2Line 2

  அவற்றின் முதலாக, ஒன்றோடொன்று கலந்த பன்னிரண்டு எழுத்துக்களும்;

  from these first, the twelve letters, all blended one with another;

• வரி 3Line 3

  அவற்றின் முதலாக, விந்துவும் நாதமும் ஓங்கி நிற்க;

  from these first, bindu and nadam rising;

• வரி 4Line 4

  அவை முழுவதும் கூடிய அத்தொகுதியின் முதலாகச் சங்கரன் என்னும் பெயரே அமையும் என்று இப்பாடல் கூறுகிறது.

  and from that whole assembly first, this verse declares, comes the very name Sankaran.
