பாடல் #1117 இல் உள்ளபடி ஒளியாகிய இறைவனை இறைவியின் இருள் தன்மை மறைத்து வைத்திருக்கின்றது. என்றும் கன்னியாகவே இருக்கும் இறைவியானவள், என்றும் அழியாத இறைவனுடன் கொண்ட அன்பினால், அவனது ஆசைப்படியே தனது எண்ணத்தாலேயே பல தெய்வங்களை உருவாக்கி அருளினாள். இறைவன் சொல்லியபடியே எழுதப்பட்ட தூய்மையான வேதங்கள் கூறுகின்ற ஒளி வடிவமான இறைவனும், இருள் தன்மை கொண்ட இறைவியோடு சேர்ந்து உயிர்களுக்குள் வீற்றிருக்கின்றான். ஆனாலும், மேஜை மேல் வைக்கப்பட்ட விளக்கின் அடியிலேயே இருள் இருப்பதைப் போல, உயிர்களின் தலை உச்சியில் ஒளியாக இருக்கும் அவனையே மறைக்கின்ற இருளாக இறைவியின் மாயை இருக்கின்றது. இந்த மாயையின் சக்திதான் எவ்வளவு பெரியது?
As in verse 1117, the Goddess's dark nature conceals the Lord who is light. The Goddess, who remains ever a maiden, out of the love she bears for the Lord who never perishes, and as he wished, created by her own thought various deities, of her grace. And the Lord, who is of the form of light that the pure Vedas, written just as the Lord himself spoke them, declare, dwells within all lives joined with the Goddess, who is of the nature of darkness. Yet, just as darkness lies right beneath a lamp placed on a table, so the Goddess's maya is a darkness that conceals even him, who is light at the crown of every life's head. How great, then, is the power of this maya?
