சுழன்று அடிக்கும் பெருங்காற்றின் நடுவே சிக்கித் தேர் அலைந்து திரிவதைப் போல, பிறப்பு இறப்பு என்னும் தொன்மையான சுழற்சியில் சிக்கிய உயிர்கள் பிறவித் துன்பத்தில் அலைகின்றன. அந்தச் சுழற்சியிலிருந்து உயிர்களை விடுவிக்கும் ஈசன், உடலுக்குள்ளேயே அழல் நடுவே ஒளியுருவமாக வீற்றிருக்கின்றான். அவனுடைய சிலம்பணிந்த திருவடியைக் கண்டால், நிழலிலும் வெயிலிலும் ஒருபோல நிலைத்து நிற்கலாம்.
As a chariot caught in the midst of a whirling storm wanders helplessly, so do living beings, caught in the ancient cycle of birth and death, wander in the suffering of birth. The Lord, who frees beings from that cycle, dwells within the body itself, a form of light amid the fire. If one beholds his sacred, anklet-wearing feet, one may stand unmoved alike, in shade and in sunlight.
