The mind, called the Aryan here, is very good indeed; within it are two breaths, ida, which is the breath that moves through the left nostril, and pingala, which is the breath that moves through the right nostril. There is no one who knows the skill of releasing that breath outward and stopping it firmly within. But if one gains the grace of a guru who knows everything about the disciple, one can master both breaths, ida and pingala, and hold the mind steady in a single, settled state.
