Having conquered the five powerful impurities of egoism, karma, maya, mayeyam and thirodhayi, and having themselves become Siva, the siddhars attain the great blissful life called sayujyam and remain immersed in it forever. Because they have attained the deathless state, they are forever free of rebirth, and, released from both pasu and pasam, they have realized and attained through their own tapas the nine principles that constitute pathi. (Pathi is the supreme soul of God; pasu is the individual soul born by separating from it; pasam is the binding by impurities that keeps the two apart. When the individual soul that is pasu cuts away the impurities that are its pasam and reaches the supreme soul that is pathi, it attains liberation and is freed forever from rebirth.)
