அனைத்திற்கும் ஆதியான இறைவன், உயிர்கள் வாழ்வதற்காக ஆகாயம், நீர், நெருப்பு, காற்று, மண் என்னும் ஐந்து பெரும் பூதங்களைப் படைத்தருளினான். அந்த உயிர்கள் தம் வினைகள் முடியும் வரை வாழ்ந்து தன்னை வந்தடைவதற்காகப் பல ஊழிக்காலங்களையும் படைத்தருளினான். அவை தவம் இருந்து தன்னை நாடி வரும்போது, அவற்றை எண்ணிறந்த தேவர்களாக ஆக்கியருளினான். இப்படி அனைத்தையும் படைத்த இறைவனே, தான் படைத்த அனைத்தையும் தாங்கிக்கொண்டு பாதுகாத்தும் அருளுகின்றான்.
God, who is primal to all things, created for the sake of souls the five great elements, sky, water, fire, wind and earth. He created the many aeons of time so that souls might live out their deeds until their end and come and reach him. When those souls perform austerity and come seeking him, he makes them into countless gods. And having created all of this, God also sustains and protects everything he has created.
