உரைmeaning
மாயையால் உலகப் பற்றுக்களில் சிக்கிக்கொண்ட உயிர்கள், அந்தப் பற்றுக்களின்மேல் வைத்திருக்கும் பாசத்திலேயே மூழ்கிக்கொண்டு, தமது உள்ளத்திற்குள் உத்தமனாக வீற்றிருக்கும் இறைவனை உணராமலும், அவன் அருளிய அமிர்தத்தை அருந்தி பேரின்பத்தில் திளைக்காமலும் இருப்பது, கங்கையின் புனித நீரில் மூழ்கிப் பாவ அழுக்குகளைப் போக்கிக்கொள்ள முயலாமல் கரையிலேயே நின்று பார்த்துக்கொண்டிருப்பதைப் போன்றதாகும்.
கங்கையில் மூழ்கிப் பாவத்தைத் தீர்த்துக்கொள்ள முடியும் போதும் அதைச் செய்யாமல் கரையிலேயே நின்று பார்ப்பதைப் போல, தமக்குள்ளேயே இறைவனை உணர்ந்து பேரின்பம் பெற முடியும் போதும் அதைச் செய்யாமல், உலகச் சிற்றின்பங்களிலேயே திளைத்திருப்பதைத்தான் உயிர்கள் விரும்புகின்றன.
Souls that are caught in worldly attachments through maya, drowning in the bondage they hold toward those attachments, without realizing the supreme God who dwells within their own heart, and without drinking the nectar of his grace and reveling in supreme bliss, are like one who stands merely on the bank watching, without ever making the effort to plunge into the sacred waters of the Ganga and wash away the dirt of one's sins.
Just as one who could plunge into the Ganga and wash away sin instead stands merely on the bank watching, souls, though they could realize God within themselves and attain supreme bliss, choose instead to revel only in the world's petty pleasures.
