ஓடிவந் தெல்லாம் ஒருங்கிய தேவர்கள்வாடி முகமும் வருத்தத்துத் தாஞ்சென்றுநாடி இறைவா நமஎன்று கும்பிடஈடுஇல் புகழோன் எழுகவென் றானே.
உரைmeaning
தேவர்கள் எல்லோரும், தமக்குத் துன்பம் நேரும்போதெல்லாம் வாடிய முகத்துடன் மனம் வருந்தி, இறைவனை விரும்பிச் சென்று, இறைவா நமசிவாய என்று திருவடி பணிந்து கும்பிட, ஈடு இணையில்லாத புகழுடைய இறைவன் அவர்கள்மேல் கருணை கொண்டு, எழுக என்று கூறி, அவர்களது துயரங்களைத் தீர்த்தான்.
தமக்குள் லிங்க உருவத்தையும் லிங்க தத்துவத்தையும் உணர்ந்த உயிர்களுக்கு, படைக்கும் பிரம்மனின் தொழிலையும் காக்கும் திருமாலின் தொழிலையும் அளித்து, அவர்களுக்குத் தேவர் என்னும் தகுதியையும் அளிப்பான் இறைவன். அவ்வாறு உணர்ந்த லிங்க தத்துவத்தை இறைவா நமசிவாய என்று வழிபட, ஈடு இணையில்லாத புகழுடைய இறைவன் அவர்கள்மேல் கருணை கொண்டு எழுக என்று கூறி, பிறவா நிலையை அவர்களுக்கு அருள்வான். லிங்க வடிவின் தத்துவமும் இறைவனும் ஒன்றே என்பதே இப்பாடலின் பொருள்.
Whenever any suffering came upon them, all the devas, with faces drawn and hearts grieving, would go longingly to the Lord and, bowing at his feet, cry, "My Lord, Namasivaya," and the Lord, whose glory has no equal, took pity on them, said, "Rise," and lifted their sorrows.
To souls who have realized within themselves the linga form and the linga thathuvam, the Lord grants the work of creation that is Brahma's and the work of protection that is Vishnu's, and grants them the standing of devas. When they worship the linga thathuvam they have so realized with "My Lord, Namasivaya," the Lord, whose glory has no equal, takes pity on them, says, "Rise," and grants them the state beyond rebirth. That the thathuvam of the linga form and the Lord himself are one is the meaning this verse carries.

In the same way, to souls who realize the linga thathuvam within and worship with Namasivaya, the Lord shows compassion and grants the state beyond rebirth.
