உரைmeaning
இறைவனிடம் மிகுந்த பக்தி கொண்டிருந்த இலங்கை அரசன் இராவணன், ஒருமுறை இறைவனைக் காண எண்ணி கயிலாய மலைக்கு வந்தான். அவன் மானிடனாக இருப்பதால் உள்ளே விடக்கூடாது என்று வாயில் காவலர்கள் தடுக்க, இறைவனைக் காண முடியவில்லையே என்னும் கோபத்தில், தன் இருபது தோள்களாலும் கயிலாய மலையைத் தூக்கி இலங்கைக்கு எடுத்துச் செல்ல முயன்றான். ஒப்பற்ற பேராற்றல் கொண்ட இறைவன் தம் திருவடியின் பெருவிரலால் சிறிது அழுத்தம் கொடுக்க, அந்த அழுத்தத்தால் தாங்கமுடியாத பெரும் வேதனை அடைந்த இராவணன், கோபம் நீங்கி, இறைவா, எம்மைக் காப்பாற்று என்று உரக்க அழைத்தான். ஒரு மாசும் இல்லாத இறைவனும் அவனது உண்மையான பக்தியை மெச்சி, அவன் முன் தோன்றி, என்றும் நீங்காத திருவருளை வழங்கி அருளினார்.
பாடல் #347ல் உள்ளபடி லிங்க தத்துவத்தையும் லிங்கத்தையும் தமக்குள் உணரும் உயிர்களைப் பத்து குணங்களும் ஐந்து ஞானேந்திரியங்களும் ஐந்து கன்மேந்திரியங்களும் அவற்றால் உண்டாகும் உலகப் பற்றுகளும் இறைவனை அடையவிடாமல் தடுக்கும்போது, இறைவா காப்பாற்று என்று அவை வேண்ட, இறைவன் திருவடி தீட்சை அருளி, அந்தக் குணங்களும் இந்திரியங்களும் மீண்டும் வராமல் காத்தருள்வான்.
Ravana, king of Lanka, who held deep devotion to the Lord, once came to Mount Kailash wishing to behold him. When the gatekeepers stopped him, since he was mortal and could not be let inside, he grew angry that he could not see the Lord, and tried to lift Mount Kailash with his twenty arms and carry it away to Lanka. The Lord, whose might has no equal, pressed down slightly with the great toe of his foot, and unable to bear the immense pain of that pressure, Ravana lost his anger and cried aloud, "My Lord, save me." The Lord, who is without a single flaw, was pleased by his true devotion, appeared before him, and graciously granted him grace that would never leave him.
As in verse 347, when the ten qualities, the five sense-organs and the five organs of action, together with the worldly attachments they give rise to, come in the way of souls who realize within themselves the linga thathuvam and the linga, and those souls plead, "My Lord, save me," the Lord grants foot-initiation and, in his grace, keeps those qualities and organs from returning.

When the gatekeepers stopped him, he grew angry and tried to lift Mount Kailash with his twenty arms. The Lord, whose might has no equal, pressed down with the great toe of his foot.

The flawless Lord was pleased by his devotion and granted him grace that would never leave him. In the same way, he grants foot-initiation to souls blocked by the ten qualities and their organs.
