  இறைவனும் இறைவியும் திருமணம் புரிந்தபோது, அதைக் காண வேண்டும் என்னும் ஆவலில் உலகிலுள்ள முனிவர்களும் யோகிகளும் சித்தர்களும் தேவர்களும் திருக்கயிலாயத்திற்கு வந்து குழுமினர்.

  When the Lord and the Goddess were wed, every sage, yogi, siddhar and deva in the world, wishing to witness it, gathered at holy Kailash.

  அந்தக் கூட்டத்தின் மிகுதியால், சமமாக நின்றிருந்த வடக்கு நிலமும் தெற்கு நிலமும் சமநிலை மாறி வடக்கு நிலம் தாழ்ந்தும் தெற்கு நிலம் உயர்ந்தும் நின்றன. அஞ்சிய தேவர்கள் இறைவனிடம் சென்று இதைக் காத்தருள்க என்று முறையிட்டனர்.

  Under the weight of that great gathering, the northern land and the southern land, which had stood level, lost their balance, the north sinking low and the south rising high. The fearful devas went to the Lord and pleaded with him to save it.

  சிவபெருமான் அகத்தியரை நோக்கி, நீ சென்று உயர்ந்து நிற்கும் தெற்கு நிலத்தின்மேல் நின்றிரு என்று பணித்தார்.

  Shiva looked upon Agastya and commanded him, go and stand upon the southern land that now stands high.

  அதைக் கேட்ட அகத்தியர் தென்நாடு சென்று பொதிகை மலையில் நிலைகொள்ள, தெற்கு நிலம் சமநிலை பெற்றது.

  Hearing this, Agastya went to the southern country and took his stand on the Pothigai hill, and the southern land regained its balance.
