அரிசி கழுவிய நீரைப் பசுவுக்குக் கொடுத்தால், அதைக் குடித்துப் பழகிய பசு அதற்குப் பிறகு குளங்களைத் தேடிச் சென்று நல்ல நீரைப் பருகாது. தாகம் எடுத்தாலும், எளிதாகக் கிடைக்கும் நல்ல நீரைக் குடிக்காமல், அரிசி கழுவிய கழுநீருக்காகக் காத்திருந்து அந்தப் பசுக்கள் தங்களது உடல் நலத்தைக் கெடுத்துக்கொள்ளும். அது போலவே, போதை தரக்கூடிய மதுவைக் குடித்துப் பழகிய மனிதர்கள் ஒழுக்கத்திலிருந்து விலகி, எளிதாகக் கிடைக்கும் செழுமையான நீரான சிவானந்தத் தேனாகிய அமிர்தத்தைப் பருகாமல், போதை தரும் மதுவைப் பருகித் தங்களின் வாழ்க்கையை வீணாகக் கழிக்கின்றனர்.
If the water in which rice has been washed is given to a cow, the cow that grows used to drinking it will afterwards not go looking for ponds and drink good water. Even when thirst comes upon them, those cows will not drink the good water that is easily at hand, but will wait instead for the rice-washing water, and so spoil their own bodily wellbeing. In just the same way, the people who grow used to drinking the liquor that brings intoxication turn aside from right conduct, and instead of drinking the nectar that is the honey of Sivananda, the rich water that is easily at hand, they drink the liquor that intoxicates and pass their lives away in waste.
