  அறநூல்கள் கூறிய வழிமுறைகளின்படி நடந்து இறைவனை அடைய முடியாத உயிர்கள்,

  Souls who cannot walk by the paths taught in the scriptures of righteousness, and so cannot reach God,

• வரி 2Line 2

  உலக ஆசைகளின்படி வழி நடந்து நல்ல பண்புகளால் கிடைக்கும் பயன்களைக் கெடுத்துக் கொண்டு திரிகின்றார்கள்.

  wander about instead following worldly desires, ruining the good that virtue would have brought them.

  குச்சி ஒன்றை எடுத்துக் காண்பித்தால் உணவை உண்ண வரும் பறவைகள் விலகி ஓடிவிடுவதுபோல,

  Just as birds that come to eat food fly away and scatter when a mere stick is held up and shown to them,

  அறநூல்கள் கூறிய வழிமுறைகளின்படி நடந்தால் உலக ஆசைகளைக் கொடுக்கும் ஐம்புலன்களும் நம்மை விட்டு ஓடிவிடும். இது தெரியாமல், உலக ஆசைகளில் மயங்கிக் கிடந்து வாழ்வை இழக்கின்றனர் உயிர்கள்.

  so too, if one walks by the paths taught in the scriptures of righteousness, the five senses that give rise to worldly desire will flee from us. Not knowing this, souls remain lost in worldly desires and waste their lives.
