  எட்டிக்காயின் பழம் கனிந்து பெரிதாகி தானே நிலத்தில் விழுந்தாலும், அதில் விஷத்தன்மை இருப்பதால் யாருக்கும் உணவாக உதவாது.

  Though the fruit of the ettikkai tree ripens, swells, and falls of itself to the ground, its poisonous nature means it serves no one as food.

  அதேபோல், நல்ல தருமத்தோடு இணைந்த புண்ணியச் செயல்களைச் செய்யாதவர்களின் செல்வமும் யாருக்கும் உதவாது.

  In the same way, the wealth of those who never perform meritorious acts joined to true dharma serves no one either.

  உலகில் உள்ள உயிர்களிடம் வட்டி மேல் வட்டி வாங்கி ஏமாற்றிப் பெருஞ்செல்வம் சேர்க்கும் நீதியற்ற பாதகர்கள்,

  Unjust wrongdoers who charge interest upon interest against the world's creatures, deceiving them to amass great wealth,

  தாம் சேர்த்த அந்தச் செல்வம் நிலைத்திராமல் போவதையும், அதன் உண்மையான பயனையும் அறியமாட்டார்கள்.

  do not know that the wealth they have gathered will not last, nor do they know its real worth.
