உரைmeaning
உயிர்கள் தாங்கள் ஏற்றுக்கொண்ட சமய வழிகளின் நெறிமுறைகளின்படியும் ஒழுக்கத்தின்படியும் நடக்கத் தவறினால், அனைத்துச் சமய வழிகளின் தலைவனாகவும் அனைத்து உயிர்களின் தந்தையாகவும் விளங்கும் சிவபெருமான், தாமே அருளிய சிவாகம நூல்நெறிக்கு ஏற்ப, எத்தகைய தண்டனையாயினும் அவர்களது ஆன்மாவிற்கு அடுத்த பிறவியில் கொடுத்து அவர்களைச் சீர்படுத்துவான். ஆனாலும் அவர்கள் இப்போது எடுத்திருக்கும் பிறவியில் அவர்களது உடலுக்குத் தக்க தண்டனை கொடுத்துத் திருத்துவது, அந்த நாட்டை ஆளும் அரசனது கடமையாகும்.
குறிப்பு: இறைவன் ஏன் அடுத்த பிறவியில்தான் தண்டனை கொடுக்க வேண்டும், இப்பிறவியிலேயே கொடுத்தால் என்ன என்று பலர் கேட்பர். அதற்கான விடை: தவறுக்கேற்ற இறைவனின் தண்டனையை உடலளவிலும் மனஅளவிலும் தாங்கும் திறனை அந்த ஆன்மாவிற்கு அளித்து, தண்டனையைத் தாங்கும் அளவிற்கு அதைப் பக்குவப்படுத்திய பின்னரே இறைவன் தண்டனை அளிக்கிறான்.
When beings fail to walk according to the rules and conduct of the religious paths they have each taken up, Sivaperuman, who is the lord of every religious path and the father of every being, will, in keeping with the ways laid down in the Sivagama scriptures he himself gave, mete out whatever punishment is due to their soul in the next birth, and thereby set them right. But it is the duty of the king who rules the land to give the body they carry in this present birth the fitting punishment and correct them here and now.
Note: many ask why God gives punishment only in the next birth, and what harm there would be in giving it in this one. The answer is that God gives the soul the strength, in body and in mind, to bear the punishment fitting its fault, and gives the punishment only after that soul has been matured enough to bear it.
