உரைmeaning
ஒரு நாட்டை ஆளும் அரசன் அதனை மிகவும் நன்றாகக் காத்து ஆட்சி செய்தால், அந்நாட்டு மக்களும் தாங்கள் ஏற்ற தொழில்களுக்கேற்ற தர்மநெறிகளிலிருந்து மாறாமல் நல்லவர்களாக விளங்குவர். பிறர் போரினாலோ சூழ்ச்சியினாலோ அவர்கள் வாழும் நாட்டைக் கைப்பற்ற நினைத்தால், புலி பதுங்கியிருந்து பாய்ந்து இரை தேடிக்கொள்வதைப் போலவே, போர்த் தொழில் கொண்ட மக்களும் நாட்டைக் காக்கும் அரசனும் பதுங்கியிருந்து தம் நாட்டைக் காப்பாற்றிக்கொள்வர்.
கருத்து: அரசன் தர்மவழியில் நாட்டை ஆட்சி செய்தால் மக்களும் தர்மவழியிலேயே நடப்பர்.
If the king who rules a land guards and governs it very well, the people of that land too will remain good, never straying from the righteous ways proper to the trades they have taken up. If others should think to seize the land they live in, whether by war or by intrigue, then, just as a tiger crouches in wait and then pounces to secure its prey, the people whose trade is war and the king who guards the land will likewise lie in wait and save their land.
The gist: if the king rules the land by the path of righteousness, the people too will walk by the path of righteousness.
