  அறியாமை அகலாமல், உண்மை ஞானம் பெறாதவர்கள் குடுமியும் பூணூலும் அணிந்துகொள்வதால், அவர்கள் வாழும் நாட்டின் வளங்கள் குறைந்து துன்பமே மிஞ்சும்.

  When people whose ignorance has not lifted and who have not attained true wisdom wear the tuft and the sacred thread all the same, the land where they live loses its resources and is left only with suffering.

  அந்த நாட்டை அரசாண்டு பெரு வாழ்வு வாழும் அரசனும் பெருமையற்றவனாக இழிவு பெற நேரிடும்.

  And the king who rules that land and lives a great life is himself made to suffer disgrace, stripped of all glory.

  ஆகவே, தன் நாட்டில் வெறும் ஆடம்பரத்திற்காகக் குடுமியும் பூணூலும் தரித்து வாழும் வேடதாரிகளை நாட்டை ஆளும் அரசன் நன்கு ஆராய்ந்து உணர்ந்துகொள்ள வேண்டும்.

  Therefore, the king who rules the land must carefully enquire into and recognise those who wear the tuft and the sacred thread merely for show.

  அவர்களின் வேடத்தைக் கலைத்து, அவர்களை நம்புகின்ற மக்களுக்கு உண்மையை உணர்த்தினால், அந்த அரசனும் அவனது நாடும் நன்மை பெற்று விளங்கும்.

  If he strips away their disguise, and makes the truth known to the people who trust them, then that king and his land will flourish with good.
