  சத்தியத்தையும் தவத்தையும் இடைவிடாமல் காத்துப் பின்பற்றுவதும், தாமே இறைவன் என்று உணர்வதும்,

  Guarding and following truth and penance without a break, and realising that one is oneself God,

  ஆசை வழியே செல்லும் ஐந்து இந்திரியங்களை -- கண் பார்த்தல், காது கேட்டல், மூக்கு நுகர்தல், வாய் பேசுதல், உடல் உணர்தல் -- ஆசை வழியில் போகாமல் தடுத்து அடக்குவதும்,

  restraining the five senses that run after desire, the eye's seeing, the ear's hearing, the nose's smelling, the mouth's speaking and the body's feeling, from following desire,

  தாம் நினைத்தபடியே அவற்றை வேலை செய்ய வைப்பதும், உயிரும் உடலும் ஒன்றாக இருந்து உள்ளிருப்பவன் இறைவனே என்பதை உணர்வதும்,

  making them work as one wills, and realising that the one who dwells within, where soul and body are joined as one, is God,

  உலகப் பற்றுக்களை எல்லாம் அறுத்துவிடுவதும் -- இவையே ஒருவரைப் பிரம்மமாக்கிவிடும்.

  and severing all the world's attachments: these alone make one Brahman.
