  முக்திக்கு வழிகாட்டும் பெரிய நெறியான ஓம் என்னும் பிரணவ மந்திரத்தைப் பொருள் உணர்ந்து ஜெபித்து,

  Chanting with understanding the Pranava mantra Om, the great path that leads to liberation,

  குரு காட்டிய நெறிகளையே பின்பற்றி, குரு அருளிய மந்திர உரைகளையே எப்போதும் ஜெபித்து, இறைவனை அடைய நான்கு வேதங்களிலும் -- ரிக் வேதம், யஜுர் வேதம், சாம வேதம், அதர்வண வேதம் -- சொல்லப்பட்ட நெறிகளின்படி வாழ்ந்து,

  following only the paths the guru has shown, chanting always only the mantra-explanations the guru has given, and living by the ways declared in all four Vedas, the Rig, the Yajur, the Sama and the Atharvana, in order to reach God,

  அந்நான்கு வேதங்களின் உட்பொருளாகிய இறைவனைத் தமக்குள் இருத்தித் தியானித்து,

  meditating within themselves on God, who is the inner meaning of those four Vedas,

  தமது உருவத்தையே இறைவனது உருவமாகப் பாவித்து, தமது உடலில் உள்ள ஒவ்வொரு துகளிலும் இறைவனைக் காண்பவர்களே அந்தணர்கள்.

  holding their own form to be God's own form, and seeing God in every particle of their own body: these are the brahmins.
