  இரவு நேரத்து இருளை நீக்க, ஆழமான அகல்விளக்கில் எண்ணெய் ஊற்றித் திரியிட்டு எரித்து ஒளி பெறுவதைப் போல,

  Just as, to dispel the darkness of night, one pours oil into a deep clay lamp, sets a wick in it, and lights it to get light,

  பிறக்கும்போதே உயிர்களுடன் பிறக்கும் வினைகளையும் அவற்றால் வரும் பலவித துன்பங்களையும் நீக்க,

  so too, to remove the karmic deeds that are born along with living beings at their very birth and the many sorrows that come from them,

  யாகக் குழி ஏற்படுத்தி அதில் நெய் ஊற்றித் திரிபோல குச்சிகளை இட்டு, முறைப்படி மந்திரங்கள் ஓதி யாகம் செய்தால், அந்த யாகத்திலிருந்து தோன்றும் இறைஜோதி மேலெழும்பிய உடனே,

  one digs a sacrificial pit, pours ghee into it, sets stick-like offerings in it like a wick, and performs the yagna chanting the mantras in due order, and the moment the divine flame that rises from that yagna leaps up,

  வினைகளைச் சுட்டு எரித்துவிடும்; வினையினால் ஏற்பட்ட துன்பங்கள் அனைத்தும் அப்போதே விழுந்தொழியும்.

  it burns away the karmic deeds, and all the sorrows caused by that karma fall away at once.
