  காலை மாலை இரு வேளையிலும் வேத முறைப்படி மந்திரங்கள் ஓதி அந்தணர்கள் ஹோமம் செய்துவந்தால்,

  If brahmins perform the homa both morning and evening, chanting the mantras in the proper Vedic order,

  அந்த ஹோமத்தில் இருக்கும் இறைசக்தி அதனால் மகிழ்ந்து உயிர்களுக்கு அருள் வழங்கி, அவர்களுடன் கூடவே காத்துக்கொண்டு துணையாக நிற்கும்.

  the divine power present in that homa is pleased by it, grants grace to living beings, and stands guarding them as their companion.

  அப்படிச் செய்யாமல் இருந்தால், ஆணும் பெண்ணும் சேர்ந்து உருவாக்கும் மகவு காட்டுப் பறவைகளைப் போலத் தன் விருப்பப்படி அலைந்து திரிந்து,

  But if this is not done, the child born of a man and a woman wanders as it pleases like a wild bird,

  மனத்தில் நிம்மதியும் செல்வமும் இல்லாமல் துன்பப்பட்டு, ஆசைகளிலேயே மயங்கிக் கிடக்கும்.

  and remains, without peace of mind or wealth, suffering and lost in its desires.
