  ஒழுக்கத்திலிருந்து சிறிதும் மாறாத, வேதம் அறிந்த அந்தணர்கள் கருத்தோடும் சிரத்தையோடும் மந்திரங்கள் ஓதி நெய்யிட்டு ஹோமம் செய்தால், மாசில்லாத சுத்தமான மழை நீரைத் தரும் மேகங்களைக் கொண்ட வானமும்,

  When brahmins who know the Vedas, and who never waver even slightly from right conduct, chant the mantras with devotion and care, offer ghee, and perform the homa, then the sky with its clouds that give pure, unblemished rain-water,

  அது பொழிந்தால் வளம்பெறும் நிலங்களும், அப்படி வளம்பெற்ற நிலங்களில் விளைந்த விளைச்சல்களைப் பெற்று வாழும் எட்டுத் திசை நாட்டு மக்களும்,

  the lands that grow fertile when that rain falls, and the peoples of the eight directions who live off the harvests that grow from those fertile lands,

  அம்மக்கள் திசைக்கொருவராக வைத்து வணங்கும் தேவர்கள் கூட்டமும் ஆகிய இவையனைத்தும்,

  and the host of gods whom those peoples set up in each direction and worship, all of these,

  தத்தம் காரியங்களைச் சிறப்பாகச் செய்ய, வேதங்களும் வேள்விகளும் முக்கியமாக இருக்கின்றன.

  depend on the Vedas and the yagnas being important for their own tasks to be carried out well.
