  எட்டி மரத்தின் இலைகள் பார்க்க அழகாக இருக்கும்; அதன் பழங்கள் பழுத்துவிட்டால் குலை குலையாக அழகாகத் தொங்கும்.

  The leaves of the strychnine tree are pleasant to look at, and when its fruit ripens, it hangs down in beautiful clusters.

  அந்த அழகைக் கண்டு, சாப்பிடுவதற்குச் சுவையானது போலத் தோன்றும் அப்பழத்தைப் பறித்துச் சாப்பிட்டால் உடனே அதன் விஷம் உயிரையே கொல்லும்.

  Drawn by that beauty, if one plucks the fruit, which looks as though it would be tasty, and eats it, its poison instantly kills.

  அதுபோலவே, அழகான முலைகளைக் கொண்டு சிந்தனையைக் கவரும்படி புன்னகை வீசும் பெண்களின் மேல் காமம் கொண்டால் அதுவும் விஷமாகி அழித்துவிடும்.

  In the same way, if lust arises for women whose beautiful breasts and smiles are meant to capture the mind, that too turns to poison and destroys.

  அத்தகைய பெண்களின் மேல் ஆசைப்படும் நெஞ்சை, விஷத்திற்கு ஆசைப்படாதே, அது கொடியது என்று கோபத்துடன் கடிந்து, ஆசையால் வழிதவறிச் செல்லாமல் காத்துக்கொள்ளுங்கள்.

  Rebuke, in anger, the heart that lusts after such women, telling it not to crave poison, that this is a cruel thing, and hold it back so that it does not go astray through desire.
