Refusing to eat the sweet mango grown with good manure, watered and carefully tended, and instead locking it safely away in a room, while longing for the tamarind fruit that grew from a seed dropped by no one connected to oneself, watered by rain that fell one cannot say when, and climbing that unsteady branch to pluck the fruit, only to have the branch snap and fall, breaking one's leg, is a foolish act. In the same way, those who lock away in a room the beautiful wife their own parents arranged in marriage for them, and instead lust after another man's wife, should know this: just as a fruit locked away in a room slowly rots day by day, so too a wife shut away within the house will grow old, and the offspring that could have come through her will be lost.

the branch snaps and one falls, breaking a leg, the act of one without understanding; just as a fruit locked in a room rots day by day, so too those who shut their own wife away in the house while lusting after another man's wife will find that she grows old and the offspring that could have come through her is lost.
