  உயிர்கள் பிறந்து வளர வளர உடலும் தேய்ந்து, இளமை மாறி முதுமை வந்து, ஒரு நாள் இறந்தும் போகின்ற இயற்கையின் விதியை ஆராய்ந்து அறிந்துகொள்ளுங்கள்.

  Living beings, from the moment of birth, grow, wear down, pass from youth to old age, and one day die; examine and come to know this law of nature.

  அவ்வாறு அறிந்துகொண்டபின், பாய்ந்துவரும் கங்கையைத் தன் திருமுடியில் சூடிக்கொண்டிருக்கும் இறைவனே என்றும் நிரந்தரமானவன் என்பதை உணர்ந்து,

  Having known this, realize that God, who wears the surging Ganga upon his crown of matted hair, alone remains eternal,

  அவனைச் சென்றடையத் தேவையான பல அரிய தவங்களையும் தியானங்களையும் குருநாதர் வழியாகக் கற்றுக்கொண்டு, மனத்தை ஒருமுகப்படுத்தி,

  learn through a guru the many rare penances and meditations needed to reach him, and focus your mind on them,

  அந்த அரிய செயல்களை உயிர் உடலில் இருக்கும்போதே செய்து இறைவனைச் சென்றடையுங்கள்.

  and while the soul still dwells in the body, perform those rare acts and reach God.
