  உயிர்கள் உலக ஆசைகள் மிகுதியாகக் கொண்டவை; அதைத் தாண்டி உண்மையை உணரும் உயிர்கள் இங்கே மிகக் குறைவே.

  Living beings are full of worldly desire; very few here come to know the truth that lies beyond it.

  உயிரைக் கட்டிவைக்கும் உடல் ஒன்றுதான், ஆனால் அந்த உயிர் உடலை விட்டுப் பிரிந்துசெல்லும் வழிகளோ ஒன்பது - இரு கண்கள், இரு காதுகள், இரு மூக்குத் துவாரங்கள், வாய், பால்குறி, ஆசனவாய்.

  There is only one body that binds the soul, but the paths by which that soul departs the body are nine: the two eyes, the two ears, the two nostrils, the mouth, the genital organ, and the anus.

  உயிர் எவ்வளவுதான் ஆசைகொண்டு பெரும் பொருள் சேர்த்தாலும், அது உடலைவிட்டுப் பிரிந்தபின், அந்த உயிரைப் பெற்று வளர்த்த தாய் தந்தையர் முதற்கொண்டு உறவினர் அனைவரும் வந்து உயிரற்ற உடலை மரியாதையாக வணங்கி,

  However much desire a soul has and however much wealth it gathers, once it has departed the body, the parents who bore and raised it and all its other relatives will come and bow in respect to the lifeless body,

  அதைப் புதைக்கும் அல்லது எரிக்கும் இடத்திற்குக் கொண்டுசென்று, இது இறந்த உடல்தான் என்று காட்டிக்கொடுத்துவிட்டு, அந்த உடலோடும் அதுவரை இருந்த உறவோடும் கைவிட்டுச் சென்றுவிடுவார்கள்; அதன்பின் அந்த உயிர் ஈட்டிய செல்வத்தையும் பங்கிட்டு எடுத்துக்கொள்வார்கள்.
