உலகில் நிலையான செல்வம் எது என்று தெளிவான அறிவில்லாதவர்களே, யாம் கூறுவதைக் கேட்டுத் தெளிவடையுங்கள்; அப்படித் தெளிவடைந்தால் உங்களுக்குத் துன்பம் இராது. ஆற்றுப் பெருக்குப்போலத் திரண்டு வரும் பெருஞ்செல்வங்களைக் கண்டு மதிமயங்கி நிற்காதீர்கள், அவை எதுவும் நிலையானவை அல்ல. அந்தச் செல்வங்களை உங்கள் சேமிப்பிலிருந்து மாற்றிப் பிறருக்குக் கொடுத்துத் தீர்த்துவிடுங்கள். ஏனெனில் நீங்கள் இறக்கும் தறுவாயில் எமன் வரும்பொழுது இந்தச் செல்வங்கள் எதையும் காட்டி அவனைத் தடுக்கவும் முடியாது; இவற்றை விட்டுவிட்டு வரமாட்டேன் என்று சொல்லவும் முடியாது. நீங்கள் பிறருக்குக் கொடுத்து உதவிய தருமமே உங்களோடு நிலைத்து நிற்கும்.
You who lack the clear knowledge of what wealth in this world is truly stable, listen to what we say and become clear; once you become clear, sorrow will not touch you. Do not stand deluded at the sight of great wealth swelling up like a river in flood, for none of it is permanent. Take that wealth out of your savings and give it away to others until it is spent. For when the moment of your death comes and the lord of death arrives, none of this wealth can be shown to hold him back, nor can you say you will not go without it. Only the charity you gave in help to others will remain standing with you.
