  Even a silken cloth, its threads first cleared of tangles, given a border, made lovely, and woven with great care and attention,

  நாளாக நாளாக நைந்து ஒருநாள் கிழிந்துபோகும் என்பதை உணராமல், தாம் வாங்கும் பட்டாடை என்றும் இருக்கும் என்று மக்கள் எண்ணுகின்றனர்.

  wears thin day by day and one day tears; but people forget this, and think the silk cloth they have bought will last forever.

  நாட்கள் கடந்துகொண்டிருப்பதையும், தமக்கு வயது கூடி கிழப்பருவம் வருவதையும், கருப்பாக இருந்த கூந்தல் வெள்ளையாக மாறுவதையும் உணர்ந்துகொள்வதில்லை.

  They fail to notice the days passing, their own age advancing and old age arriving, and their once-black hair turning white.
