Five men were given a piece of land. They farmed it well and its harvest stood ripened there. All five of them looked after and guarded that land and its harvest carefully, so that nothing would be lost. One day, the leader of those five men sent them a letter summoning them to come to him at once. As soon as that letter arrived, all five of them left behind the land they had guarded and cared for until then, and went in search of their leader. Here, the five men are the soul's five senses within the body: sight, which is the eye; hearing, which is the ear; smell, which is the nose; speech, which is the mouth; and touch, which is the skin. The land is the body the soul has taken on in this world. The leader of the five is God himself. The five senses guarded and cared for the body well, so that it would not be lost. When the time allotted for the soul's worldly birth and its karma comes to an end, at the moment God calls, the five senses will leave the body and depart.
