  நாட்டியம் ஆடுகின்ற கூடம் வெறுமனே கிடக்கின்றது; உயிர் ஆடிய உடல் இப்போது செத்துக் கிடக்கின்றது. அங்கே அழகிய அலங்காரங்கள் எதுவும் இல்லை.

  The hall where the dance was danced lies empty; the body in which the life danced now lies dead. There is no fine adornment there.

  ஆட்டத்திற்குரிய சுதியும் லயமும் இல்லை; மூச்சுக் காற்றும் இதயத் துடிப்பும் இல்லை.

  There is no pitch and no rhythm for any dance; there is no breath and no beat of the heart.

  அந்தக் கூடத்தில் சிலர் பாடுகின்றார்கள்; சுதியும் லயமும் இல்லாமல் பாடுவது அழுவதுபோலவே இருக்கிறது, ஏனெனில் அவர்கள் உடலைச் சுற்றி ஒப்பாரி வைத்து அழுகின்றார்கள்.

  Some are singing in that hall; singing without pitch or rhythm sounds exactly like weeping, for what they are doing is wailing around the body.
