  இறந்தவனுடைய உடலைச் சுற்றி நின்று கூவி ஒப்பாரி வைக்கும் உறவினரும் சுற்றத்தாரும் மனைவியும் மக்களும்,

  The relatives and kinsfolk and the wife and children who stand around the dead man's body and wail aloud,

  அவனுடைய உடலை ஊரின் எல்லையாகிய சுடுகாடு வரை மட்டுமே எடுத்துச் செல்கிறார்கள்.

  carry that body only as far as the burning ground at the town's edge.
