People see with their own eyes what the previous verse said, that the wealth gathered and the wife and the children all stay at home while the one who gathered them is burned alone in the wilderness. And even so they go on thinking the life will never leave their body, and they toil hard and gather wealth of every kind. They set great desire on the wealth they have gathered. Others follow them and do the same. So, with the states of deed they were born with unchanged, their bodies too grow thin and old, and one day the life parts from them exactly as it did from the man they first saw, and they are carried to the burning ground. What is there to say about a mind that sees this and still does not change?
