இது இத்தொகுப்பிலேயே மிகவும் துணிச்சலான குறைச் சொல் கொண்ட பாடல். பாழ் வாழ்வு எனப்படும் இந்த மயக்கம் நிறைந்த வாழ்விலேயே வீழும்படி நீ என்னை விதித்தாய் அல்லவா என்று அருணகிரிநாதர் நேரடியாகவே முருகனிடம் கேட்கிறார். "இப்படி ஒரு நிலைக்கு ஆளாக நான் ஏதேனும் தாழ்வான செயல் செய்திருக்கிறேனா?" என்ற கேள்வி இரு வகையில் புரிந்துகொள்ளக் கூடியது: ஒருபுறம் அது தன் கடந்த வினையை ஏற்றுக் கொள்ளும் தன்மையாகவும், மறுபுறம் இறைவனின் நீதியை நேரடியாகக் கேள்விக்குள்ளாக்கும் துணிச்சலான குரலாகவும் வாசிக்கப்படலாம். பாரம்பரிய உரையாசிரியர்களே இந்த இரு வாசிப்பையும் ஏற்றுக்கொள்கின்றனர் என்பதால், இதை ஒரே பொருளுக்குள் சுருக்காமல் விட்டு வைப்பதே நேர்மையான அணுகுமுறை. ஆனால் பாடல் கோபத்தில் முடிவதில்லை; "வாழ்வாய் இனி நீ, மயில் வாகனனே" என்று இறுதியில் முருகனை வாழ்த்தி முடிவது, குறை சொன்ன அதே இதயத்திலேயே அன்பு எவ்வளவு ஆழமாக வேரூன்றியிருக்கிறது என்பதைக் காட்டுகிறது.
This is the boldest voice of complaint in this batch of verses. Arunagirinathar asks Murugan directly whether it was the Lord himself who destined him to fall into this illusion he calls a ruined life. His question, whether he committed some base act to deserve such a fate, can be read two ways, as an acceptance of his own past karma, or as a bold challenge to divine fairness itself. Since traditional commentators themselves hold both readings, it is more honest to leave the ambiguity open than to force a single meaning. Yet the verse does not end in anger. It closes by blessing Murugan, the one who rides the peacock, showing how deep the poet's love runs even inside the same heart that just voiced its complaint.
